Absolutely gratitude for the simple thing: clean water to drink, a hot shower, a bed to sleep in.

I’m with you.. praise what I have because there was a time I had absolutely nothing.
I am sometimes in awe of what frugal living has done for me and my children.
A roof over my head, a vehicle to go to work, great job, good food, good health…. Couldn’t want anymore. Life is good. 😊

I went to the grocery store this morning. Grocery prices are continuing to increase. I bought sale items only. As much as that hurt my pocket book, I thanked God on the way home that I had the money to buy groceries, a vehicle to go get groceries, the gas to get there and a home to prepare the food and eat.

It is so fantastic to witness someone with "joie de vivre", the Joy of Life. I am a Happy CANADIAN senior who lives alone in retirement and I love nearly every minute that being frugal and living within my means has given me. I wish this joyous feeling for everyone who just simply appreciates and finds true happiness in the simplest things in life. Kate, your wonderful inspiration and positive comments are something the internet and YouTube could use a lot more of. All the best to You and your family. Your efforts are certainly appreciated. Greetings from Ontario, Canada.

I talk to my car all the time, LOL. Thank her for taking me places and for running smoothly, etc.

When I have been worried about not having enough or when I feel behind in ownership vs my peers (like w a house, money, etc), I honestly think of the Little House book series by Laura Ingalls Wilder. The pioneers could not have fathomed my level of comfort: heating and air conditioning, an apartment I can rent and don’t have to build, a car, sunscreen and bug spray, a freezer and fridge for food storage, the variety of foods I have easy access to, flush toilets, clothes washers and dryers, dishwashers, heated indoor water for sinks and showers - even toiletries like deodorant and tampons and otc drugs. I remind myself there are people here in the US and all over the world who don’t enjoy my level of first world comforts, and I immediately snap out of whatever sense of lack I was indulging. It’s a good reminder that I have plenty and am blessed and would still be fine with less.

I am thankful...I remember when times were truly tight...having a nice razor blade and some body cream even a cheap brand were luxury items for me....I am always thankful also for clean laundry...when you can't afford a washer and dryer and things are too tight even for going to a laundromat....clean laundry is a blessing

About that embracing living below your means and frugality - Some folks get little flutters each time the make headway paying down a debt, others with every savings deposit or transfer, ive almost always found an emotional boost when discovering a less expensive way to do something. There are small, wins you cant particularly count and big wins you KNOW are savings. It is very nice when you can meet wants at very little to no cost too.

I often "forget" to be grateful. Because some things are so common for me. But sometimes, especially when it is stormy outside, I think about all the people that dint have a warm shelter. A bed to sleep in. A washing machine. A stove. Clothes. Food.
So thank you for this reminder ❤

Thanks for all of this! Gratitude isn't corny. Being thankful for all the things, big and small, is the key to everyday happiness! xoxoxo

Yes, we need to be grateful for what we have and what we have achieved so far.

For years, I haven’t dined out or bought take out. However, that has changed with a deal from a local deli offer on Tuesdays. For $2($1.44 US), I can get a thigh and drumstick cooked crispy chicken. I get 2 orders that I split into 3 meals: 2 drumsticks or 1 thigh x 2. I put the leftover bones in a freezer bag along with any veg peelings including radish greens etc. Then later I make a broth for a carrot lentil soup in my slow cooker, which gives me at least another 4 servings. Instead of buying the potato wedges at the deli, I make up either coleslaw, a potato or garden salad to go with the chicken. I also either drink water or homemade ice tea. Winner, winner, chicken dinner.😊

I do a calendar on my fridge where I color in each day. Green=Spent No Money, Yellow= Spent some money but it was necessary (bills groceries, etc), pink= spent money on something I did not need. The idea is traffic light colors lol, with high lighters I already had. I found the visual cue of how I’m doing this month does a lot more than writing the numbers down. Saw it originally for a no spend challenge but found it helps me monthly. Not to do no spend per se, but just to see visually how I’m doing.

No children but I spend time with my 2 boys Cavalier King Charles spaniels. They are my kids we have play time outside if weather is nice or fun in the house. I thank GOD every day for being able to adopt them 2 months after losing my husband. They give me so much to be happy about and be thankful for my day
