I found mine not too long ago while teaching. I tell silly stories to teenagers often. One day, a student said you should write books. I laughed then, but now, two years later, I'm 1.5 books into a 7 book series. Not ready for release until I have at least three are complete.

I think many people need to heal themselves from childhood or situational trauma before they can find their ikigai. Most people’s struggle in finding their purpose isn’t that actual issue. Many can’t admit that they are good at anything. That is the real problem.

I didn't find my ikigai until I was 35. But it changed my life.

I’ve been lucky enough to know what I wanted to when a kid... and that was to be an artist to be able to create art for others to enjoy and appreciate

Everyone knows this, but very few people find a job that they love and pays them enough to love their out of work time too 🤷🏼‍♂️

Just wanted to say that thinking alone won't get you there, you gotta feel it. So don't despair if you don't find your ikigai anytime soon, it takes time. Just make sure you don't lose track of what you love~

I think also that people try to be too specific about what they love. You can just start from a general point of view, think what drives your interest in general and work around that without trying to find the perfect match. Those things come as time flows.

Me: Decides to screenshot the diagram....

Also me: Screenshoots an entire candid photograph of him by accident. LMAO! 🤦‍♀️😂🤣

I like Mike Rowe's advice find something no one else wants to do. Then master it you will be able to name your price.

This is the westernized definition of Ikigai.
"The misconception being perpetuated is that one can only achieve ikigai and true happiness by meeting all four conditions, so if you are doing something you love, but it isn't generating you money, then you haven't achieved ikigai - this is false. (...) Ikigai is a multifaceted concept that Japanese come to understand as they live life and grow older. It is not something they learn about from a framework." - Ikigai Tribe
