This is a good one for me. After my divorce from a narcissist (27 years married), we got a new boss at work who had a god complex, too. I hadn't healed from the divorce, so the boss was able to twist me into knots. It's taken me almost three years after I left that job to start to feel somewhat centered again. This world can be a very dangerous place, especially if you haven't figured out "who you are."

The narcissist spouse repeatedly falsely accuses me of having an affair. Once he said " I am jealous like God, He is a jealous God. " When people tell you who they are, BELIEVE THEM.

It's funny how narcs always think they are in the right because they see their intentions as noble. The thing is they don't even consider the consequences of their words or actions. It's ironic because this is the only thing they think internally about, everything else is external (What do I appear as? Why is that other person wrong?)

I am in a Bible study with 6 other men, most of whom are retired farmers. They were/are very accomplished people—-hard working, clever, kind, gentle, and giving. They have also been good fathers and husbands.

The last time I met with them, I felt a sense of superiority start coming over me. I immediately realized how ridiculous that feeling was. I know it’s not good to compare oneself to others, but the fact is that I do not measure up to any of them. My rational self CLEARLY observed what was happening. And my rational self said to my old narcissistic self, “Just what do you think you’re doing…? I know what reality is now, and you are NOT it. Shut your mouth and crawl back under your rock!” That worked very nicely—my narcissist self didn’t even have a chance to get me off the ground, much less launch me into outer space!

"No regard for you". This is one of the most important things to understand about the narc in your life. To them, your wants and needs will NEVER matter. Your only real option is to cut your losses and move on. Staying just means continuing insanity.
