China's GDP in 2016 - $USD 11.2 trillion. In 2017, $12.7 trillion. USD1.5 trillion growth in one year.

Retail consumption this year is estimated to be 5.8 trillion USD, about the same size as the USA. So, the shift to consumption based economy is pretty much on target.

There are a lot of problems in China, and there are a lot of problems in US, too. However, the difference is that China get problems fixed with actions. In US, we just talk about it and debate about the issues, but no actions because we have too many voices, opinions, conflicts interests, etc. Nothing can get it done.

Now it is 2019 - China is the BEST in the world. Apart from Beijing and HK (which are political and sad!), rest of China is amazing! Each city and town has its own uniqueness, architecture, food, and extremely friendly and hardworking people! The rural areas are also beautiful! Go to Huangshan mountains, or Szechuan villages, air is SUPER fresh!

Chinese all over the world build strong commerce even though with little support from local government. However with 1billion hard working and focused energy of China leaders to overcome all adversities, miracle of China has arrived despite all odds against China return to greatness. Western nations want China to fail. But China succeed and now return to her past glory. This will be China glory for at least another 200 years to come.

Pros of china not by ambition, but a natural result of Chinese hardworking and discipline.

This is a familiar storyline some of you may have heard before from your Chinese friends or Chinese forefathers, it goes something like this, the Westerners, incl. US and UK, etc are great teachers contributing to the progress of the Chinese people and nation for the past 30-40 years. Now that Chinese people as a student collectively learn as much as possible in order to progress rapidly like most eager learners and students who try to better themselves and their lives. Now that Chinese people have come to stage where their abilities are perceived to surpass their teachers esp., the United States who from now on feel threatened in every way. This is similar/analogous to a Kung Fu master being threatened by a gifted student who is perceived to replace him. There you go.

Why the necessity to compare growth? When each nation should be left to progress within its means. The so-called US per capital appears to be huge if made available in an Asian scenario but appears to be inadequate to sustain a normal living over there. As a matter of fact, each society should be valued by the basic public amenities available within its environment especially with regard to sanitary hygiene of its population. Such facilities could be enjoyed by all its citizens whereas poor public facilities do not contribute to the welfare of the general public. In this respect, China investment in transport infrastructure will certainly impact the overall improvement of her people.

China is growing citizens quality of life gets better and better. The USA has watched the Oligarchs and Corporatist take all the benefits and the quality of life is falling for you and me. Maybe we should learn to share the wealth and invest in our country, instead of watching the Oligarchs and Corporatist invest outside the USA.

Depends on the total volume per growth, if the current total volume is 100 percent now is 1000 percent 10 years ago, what that percent tells you!? Don't be blinded by only numbers, all effort comes from total accumulation of work by people and company.

its not necessary to be one or the other . china is building its unique model with both consumer and manufacturer economy as two equal strong engines!! this experts needs to think out of the box which formed at the school for more creative think in future economic models !!
