It seems many of you are unaware of the context.

That's Mondo duplantis, potentially the greatest pole vaulter of all time, beating the world record 400m hurdle runner in 2021, Karsten Warholm in a sprint.

A pole vaulter beating a world record holding Runner in a Sprint is genuinely insane

I love this, there should be an Olympics where athletes have to win events other than their sport 😂

For some reason, I would love to see more of these spontaneous face offs across the TnF and athletics world. This was pleasing to watch 😊

Remember guys, hurdling is very different from a normal 100m dash

10:37 is better time than many countries' national record in 100m sprint.

This feels like a pretty sane 100m race ngl

Duplantis’s athlesism can’t be appreciated enough. That’s a perfect technique for sprinting. Barely leaking energy

Even if he didn’t win, that time of 10.3 is really impressive for someone that does not compete in short sprints

It takes significant speed to generate such incredible and world breaking jumps!

Duplantis should honestly start considering competing in decathlon as a side hustle now that pole vault is too easy competition for him. Jumping 6.20+ meters in pole vault would score him insane amounts of points and he would probably be top 2 in 100 meters alongside other running events - while also possibly scoring quite high in long jump, high jump and throwing events. So an Olympic gold in decathlon 2028 alongside pole vault gold is far from impossible even with minimum amount of additional training for other events besides pole vault and running (which he as a track and field athlete have experience of).

I do understand that it probably would be a distraction from his full focus on pole vaulting to keep breaking world records however - but it would be fun to see him test it out for fun.

Duplantis is somethin else; that moment at the Paris Olympics when he beat the world record (his world record) on his third and final attempt was awesome. He now holds something like the top 9 or 10 highest pole vaults in history
