Atomos Ninja V – 5″ ProRes RAW Recorder

Atomos have just revealed the newest addition to their lineup of monitors/recorders. The Atomos Ninja V, as in 5, is a 5″ HDR monitor which is capable of recording almost everything you throw at it. But only via HDMI.

WOW. Really nice. I love how he's really open about the possibilities, and why this product only comes now. The "big corps" do a terrible PR job, trying to appear professional by keeping silence about all their flaws, challenges and development (sorry to include you, Sony) - these guys are awesome, encouraging us to ask more of our manufacturers!

They should have added a 1/4 20 near the side with audio output and allow it to auto rotate like the focus...would have killed the focus sales instantly

Fantastic. Size, weight, form factor. !TB SSD in the size of a pair of matches.
We have now some great innovative companies full of enthusiasm.
Atomos, Blackmagic and Aputure just to name a few. But there is also Kinefinity and many more having the enthusiasts and starting professionals with the smaller budget in mind.
And by the way. Thanks Cinema 5d for your excellent work. I enjoy your reviews and "on the go" is a great format.

This looks like an awesome companion to a small mirrorless camera, especially those with a 10 minute 4k recording limit (like my Fuji X-T20.) Is it possible to edit the prores footage directly off the SSD that you record to? That would be a great feature.
