Since this video was produced, Atomos dropped the Ninja V+ price from $1499 USD to $999 USD. We think this makes it far easier to justify paying the premium for the Ninja V+.

The main advantage of using the Ninja V+ for 8K from the R5 is to get around the camera's overheating.

Great review Jordan. I’ve been using the V+ with the A7SIII for a couple months and have been loving it. As you said, it’s the future updates that had me upgrade to the plus.

In the new sony fx30, can you get the read in 4k120 from the full sensor if you use the ninja v+ or is it still cropped?

Do you think it makes sense getting this combo (R5 + ninja v+) instead of the r5c? The price difference between the R5 and r5c at least in europe is quite substantial.

Did you test recording in 4K using C log 3? I'm seeing a lot of issues with color cast.

Thanks for the video. Do you know if the Ninja V+ also offers the possibility to record 4k in 120fps (high framerate mode from R5)? Many thanks

What happens when recording ProRes Raw on a R5 or R5 C? ProRes Raw is Clog2 with cinema gammut. So it will have the same color issues because it's cinema gammut color space in prores raw? Thank you.

Great video!! This one helps me on going forward with the R5 together with the Ninja V +. I currently have the z7ii with the old Ninja V but the R5 combo with the V plus will be a step up.

I'm new to external recording as well as to DaVinci. Does this mean I won't be able to use the external ProRes RAW from the XH2S in DaVinci? I do have Premiere Pro though. Haven't decided yet on buying an external recorder.

Glad to know more about legacy issues from the original Ninja V. I considered the Plus, but decided to hold off and wait for whatever comes next (v6?).

Will the Ninja v+ be able to shoot 4k120 with the R5 in the future?

I’m looking into the ninja V+ as my first external monitor, but how do I go about transferring the files from the SSD to my PC? Is there a custom reader that I have to get or do I upload the footage directly from the monitor?

Apart of the processor, Ninja V has been limited by it's HDMI standard (I think it's 2.0), so high frame rates and bandwidths are blocked by the port specs.

Great video. I'm leaning towards the 7 inch cheaper displays that seem to offer tons of the latest features like the Desview R 72. Any comparisons guys?

What about the Shogun 7? very little has been said about it since its launch. Can you do a comparison? do you know of any pending upgrades? Would you buy the Ninja V+ over the Shogun 7?

I really appreciate you comparing the fan noise, since that's also my #1 complaint with the Ninja V. Oh well, maybe they'll fix it on the next Ninja model. :(
