It was reckless and foolish for Aang to even consider sparing Ozai without energy bending. Of course with that result it really is far more savage than killing him. With the intense martial honor culture that has been established in the Fire Nation across three generations, this was worse than death. All Ozai ever respected was strength and that was stolen from him. He would live out the rest of his days as utterly helpless.

Aang not only took Ozai bending, he took Kyoshi’s Spirit. That’s a double kill if I ever seen it.

I like how Aang did this out of compassion, but Kyoshi is a barbarian, and interprets it entirely by how savage she perceives the action to be. She's extremely impressed to see that you can in fact let your greatest enemy live, if you make them harmless, and force them to live with that defeat forever.

To he fair, if Aang had just killed Ozai, The Fire Nation would have just made him into a martyr, and then who knows how long the war woukd have gone on for. Humiliating Ozai and propping Zuko was the only way to end the war peacefully

Kyoshi had to go through a whole monologue till the end when she was like, "I can't call him the Avatar no more. He's the Himatar now." HAHAHA

Honestly I’m both surprised and understood why Kyoshi was moved so much from that. Killing a man in cold blood without a care is one thing.

But taking away the one thing they built themself up by and even had pride in it then let them live without it for the rest of there life is beyond Savage.

It’s even worse since his own people won’t remember him as “Ozai the Greatest Opposition known to the fire nation.” but “Ozai the bender turned Regular Joe.”

There sure as hell never gonna be a parade in honor of his memory.

This Character Arc Kyoshi goes through from an Avatar that only wants the smoke and do any means necessary to seeing that Not everything has to be about solved with violence 10/10

Did they realize aang had a party in enemy territory and did vigilantism because he thought it would be fun. Not to mention he's close friends with zuko, the son of the man he just spiritually crippled. Kyoshi should react to all that.
