Been playing golf for more than 50 years, had lessons, watched numerous videos and spent a fortune at the range but watching this video has pinpointed exactly where I have been going wrong.
Can't thank you enough 👏👏👏

This instruction is spot on as far as I’m concerned so thank you for affirmation. I’ve been playing for 6 years on a consistent basis competively and always struggled for distance up until 3 years ago. I’m a left hander but only for 2 handed stick sports. I’m a right hander in everything else. It was driving me crazy that 65 year olds were hitting further than me. I tried different things because I knew it had to be technique. I fell upon using my left arm as most dominant and then whallah! Not only was outhitting 65 year olds by 85 yards I was striking ball cleaner and straighter. By using my left arm(I’m a left handed golfer) I realised by keeping my left arm connected I no longer was getting my hands and body too far in front of the ball. I trained to use my left side to bring club in contact with ball! I was only hitting 9 irons 130 yards but now hitting them over 150 yards.
I think we are instructed incorrectly for the most part with all these other silly positions but this one has made the single most difference!
Thanks
Will

Hey Brenden, just had to say that You, Rick & Peter, Meandmygolf, and other
vloggers have helped me go from shooting 120 when i started playin ggolf
7 months ago to nearly a 9 handicap. Y'all are the best, thank you so
much for the information and dedication!

Having played tennis my whole life but golf only for a couple this right arm driven approach makes so much sense, it's basically your forehand with some spine tilt. Also the transition I think for most tennis players would come quite automatically by using the right hand feel. Great stuff!

Tony, love this video! I have always struggled getting through the ball and this is the key to what I needed to do. Tried doing like you demo in the vid and it works great! Longer shots as well as straight.shots. I did watch the vid on the "Flamingo Drill" so I could get the feel of what the new moves would be. Easy and works great!

Mike Austin showed this in one of his clips and knocked it a long way. I used it and it gives you more power into the swing. I wonder why people use their left arm more when its the weaker part of your arms.

Thank you for the videos, you make a lot of sense, really smart instruction.
It has helped me get back too striking the ball more naturally instead of using the crippling main stream teachings.

Surprisingly, this helped most with tempo (and thus sequencing). I had to slow my hips down to do 1 arm swings properly. Then a took the new tempo to the full swing and there was a big difference.

For a swing that takes literally 2 seconds, just give me one area to focus on and take me from there. I like the simplicity of thinking about my right side, because I've already dug into the left side model. Focusing more so on the right shoulder hitting the inside of the ball has made everything come together for me, head stays back, inside-out path and swing through the ball versus at it because my arms are just going for a ride.

The point is if I drive a car and I want it to go faster, I step harder on the accelerator. Now a mechanic will tell you the way to make a car go faster is to increase the amount of fuel into the injectors and increase airflow and that the mixture of fuel/air needs to change and the transmission needs to shift at different times etc.etc.etc.etc. so a whole bunch of things happen when a car accelerates and a mechanic can help your car go faster, but in the end what the driver does is...step on the accelerator when he wants the car to go faster. It's the difference between what we do and what happens, intention vs. mechanics.

Let me get the lab floor done and I'll do a combo video and write up about several researchers that have done some great body segment & joint analyses. Also, the right arm internally rotates on the downswing, adduction.

I’ve never used my right hand for any power and saw an old video today where Lee Trevino (May be wrong spelling of his name) said to use your right hand to power through your shot. Everyone always says to not use your right hand other than just for steadiness and control. I drive around 240/275 yards just using my left arm/hand. I wondered what would happen if I tried it. I haven’t been to my course yet and can’t wait. Because it’ll take practice for control and I don’t want to smash and window out around my house. But in my yard I went outside and hit my sand wedge. I usually hit my sand wedge about 80 to 90 yards and by using my right hand to help push through the shot I hit my damn sand wedge 110/115 Yard’s. And it went super high up. Wasn’t a punch shot. Can’t wait until I can get on the course and try to practice on driving range to see what will happen with my driver and other irons. It definitely feels weird and awkward at first. But I think with practice it will add some serious extra power to my already decently powerful swing.

Around the 1:40 mark, Tony says that hitting behind the ball is because the right arm is not "keeping up" with the body; I thought that hitting behind the ball was due to not rotating the body soon enough. Is it that either fault can result in "fat" shots?

Nice video. I do however believe that hitting behind the ball (fat shot) doesn't come from the "right arm not doing anything" but just opposite. the right arm is doing too much, too early.
The right arm swing does require timing. That's why rhythm and tempo is the glue that holds that swing together.

Does this apply to the short game as well, say from 100 yards in with wedges. Using the right side. Cheers

You say that keeping your head still (as still as you can) produces weak shots, but what about Dustin Johnson, Rory, Jason Day etc ... only a few tour players let their head come round with the club through impact, the vast majority are looking at the ball and continue to do so until well after impact. Furthermore, Jack Nicklaus said that the most important fundamental was a steady head, so I'm not sure what you mean by this producing weak shots?

Left arm, right arm ....depends on who you ask.
Jack Nicklaus said it should be 50/50.
