I've been watching Clay all week after work, practicing in the yard every night. Played today and struck the ball better, straighter shots, and actually had fun and stayed pumped, not get mad and want to quit the game entirely. Clay is the best golf coach out there and i appreciate Clay for being AWESOME!!! Thanks Clay!!!

The hardest part about teaching anything is understanding that many people learn things very differently. It's all how you perceive the information. I feel like you did a very Good job of explaining what you meant in several different ways to make it easier to understand.

Thank you. I watched several videos and this was the simplest explanation i found. Can't wait to try this tomorrow.

Your feet parallel left means if you were standing at your target, and you lined up like you are going to hit a good shot, your feet would be left off the hole. You wouldn't put your feet right on the hole. It's a good way to learn that your feet don't point at the target, the club face does. Good luck out there everyone, hit em straight!

I think even if I didn't play golf I'd play better after watching your videos you're that easy to understand!

I'm convinced that the setup is the most difficult thing in golf. All you have to be is ~1 cm off and it's going to affect the shot. And since every club has a different length, you have to master setting up with each club exactly the same way each time. Distance from the ball has to be nearly exactly the same for the same club. And that's somewhat dependent on forward lean, which I think varies, especially if a golfer gets a bit tired. I think the swing may be more repeatable than the setup, but of course if the setup varies from one 5-iron to the next, so will the swing. The tolerances for error are just so small. And we haven't even mentioned uphill, downhill, sidehill lies. Obviously, the pros do this better than anyone. But amateurs are very unlikely, IMHO, to have a repeatable setup for the same club every time. It's a goal of course. But a very elusive one.

Doesn't parallel left mean that if you draw a straight line from the ball to your aiming spot, which is your target line, a line drawn along your toe line should be parallel to that ball-spot/target line. In the video it appears your foot line is closed to the ball-spot line because your toe line is pointed at the target instead of parallel left. Is it possible that you feel most comfortable open because you are actually parallel left?

I think what they mean by "parallel left" is you point your club face directly square to your target, so if a laser was coming out of the club face it would hit the flag stick, then when you take your stance your feet are about a yard away from the club face (depending on the club) so if the laser was pointing out to target parallel to your toes the laser line will be left of target the distance you are away from the club face (right for a lefty) ... all good if you are hitting a dead straight shot 🤔

Clay, you spoke about alignment on the course. You square the club face to the aiming point with your right hand, then you step into the ball. My question is where does the ball end up being positioned? How big of a step do you take with the left and right foot when you set up?

Good advice. You really got to be careful with aligning the shot. And the feet really need to be aligned correctly, "consistently" as our instructor here says, or THAT can/will mess up the swing -- I might even start making changes to my swing to attempt to overcome my bad/inconsistent alignment when I stop paying attention to my alignment and let it drift. That is my 2 cents based on my experience. So, again, good advice here.

Will give this a try
I've always lined up the face and then my feet + stance is always too closed 😒

If your feet are slightly open, are your shoulders and hips turned square to the target. So that you are swinging the club along your shoulders and hips? Or is everything open ie feet, hips and shoulders ?Think the latter would cause me to fade or slice.
