Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This YouTube channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!

I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.

I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!

On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.

Love the idea of breaking up the scorecard.. At the course I grew up on holes 10, 11 and 12 were all birdie-able but too often ruined by a bad hole 8/9 sticking me in a funk.

Honestly Rick, , , your timing is absolutely perfect with this video. I had my 11yo son out playing 9 holes yesterday and he was getting incredibly frustrated. Expecting to be amazing and playing like a pro after all his practice at the range over the winter. Some of the tips and messages that you gave out here were absolutely spot on and although I tried to explain a lot of this yesterday during the frustrations. It just wasn’t sinking in. Then you pop up with this video, showing yourself and other pros hitting bad shots and my son watched it twice and because it’s coming from a major influence like yourself. I think he is actually starting to realise that golf is difficult no matter what your level and that the enjoyment is getting better, , no matter how gradual. I told him that you started when you were 11 and he is buzzing that if he works hard enough he could reach similar levels. Just like to say a thank you to you and the team for helping us all with this great game no matter what our level. My son wants to go out and get straight back at it again. So getting another tee time booked… result ❤

Great tips! I cannot stress enough about how much you can learn from playing with better players. I dabbled in golf for a couple years (played 4-5 times a year), but I have been playin in a league the last couple years and my partner regularly shoots under 80. From watching them, asking questions, and listening to advice they were giving, has made huge improvements to my game (shooting 115-120 to 92-96)

I love that 3 hole breakdown. Prevents you from getting ahead of yourself and calms the nerves down. If I mess up on these three, I can work on the next. Absolutely love that!

Definitely trying the card-breaking-up thing. At my local muni, #6 is my nemesis (and it's just a straight par 4, but whatever). It would be nice to think of that as the end of a small set of three holes instead of the hole that wrecks my entire front nine.

#7 was something I started doing a bit more frequently last season and it does make a difference. Had to really focus on what I was doing for each shot. Not to show off or anything, but more to stay in that next shot mentality Rick spoke to. Found myself getting in a groove, even with bad shots, and still able to fight for a respectable score at the end of each hole.

Thanks Rick! Using these tips I went out and shot a 65. That was on a Par 4.

#4 was, is vital for me. It helps me learn more and the odds of finding a ball skyrocket and that is a good feeling. Anything that helps the "short memory" is going to help to drop the score is a good thing.

I'm newly obsessed with golf. I think no matter how good ypu are or think you are or aren't, just love it, enjoy it. Cleaning your clubs, keeping focused and open to bad shots and like everything else that's said in this video is spot on. This WILL improve everyone's game. Great video, thank you 👊

Excellent tips! Golf is a game that needs to be played on the golf course. Too many are world champions on the range! Hitting balls on a range repetitively is a lot easier than hitting once every 5-10 mins in a round. I love breaking up the round to smaller sets of holes and narrowing my focus. I've been doing that for years! Set small goals! I keep my golf muscles fit and memorized by swinging a heavy club every day at home. It only takes 40-50 swings a day, which is similar to the number of full swings required for 18 holes. And as Rick says; Golf is not a game of "Perfect"! That's a great book btw!
