I kid you not. I watched this video, found it very sensible. Went out to play golf as I ALWAYS do every week no fail and on the 17th hole, 145’ par 3 over water hit my 1st hole in ONE in 9 years of playing!! Next week, different hole par 3 155’ and came 4” from the hole. This has drastically improved my game and aim. Try it! I swear by this instruction video.

I'm a plus 2 handicap, age 60, been playing for 35 years. I learned from a teaching pro back in 1988 to set up my irons EXACTLY as being taught here. I also place my feet together and step out EXACTLY as shown in this video. Tiger does this as well.

I can also cut my ball by slightly closing or opening my club face without moving my feet using this setup.

Picking a target spot in front of your ball may work for most but I bet you have a double digit handicap.

Many important things involved so I'm not saying these setup is a Johnny Fix All but it should help.

The way you grip your club, takeaway and tempo of your swing is very important obviously, but this setup will help you hit straighter shots.

The only time I use a target in front of my ball is when I'm putting. I find three spots between my ball and the hole. The midpoint is where I want the ball to cross and the first and last set the speed for the putt.

Best of luck guys, it's a great game and if you're breaking 80 you're in the top 5 percent!

Golf is easy. Just do thirty-two things perfectly every time and the ball will go long and straight!

Stand behind your ball, look at your target, pick an intermediate spot in front of the ball that lines up with your target line, square up clubface to that then the rest of your stance. Swing.

I think one of the most important steps to aiming properly is to pick an intermediate target, a spot on the ground, maybe a foot or two in front of the ball, that is in line with your target. It's much easier to align the clubface square to a target that's 1-2 feet in front of the ball than it is to align it to a target that's 170 yards away. I do this on every shot with every club in the bag from driver to putter.

For aiming, I was taught as you demonstrated turning my head while in position over the ball. However, I was also shown to stand behind the ball first in a straight line through the ball, to the hole and pick out a spot to aim at several feet ahead of the ball on that line. That way you can aim at something say 10 feet away, instead of 150 yards away. This method greatly improved my aim. To be honest, I thought I learned that from you?

What about looking down target line from behind the ball and picking intermediate point? That should be first thing. Right?

I continue to pull my irons. Trying my best to follow Coach Kolbs instructions.

Question addressing the ball off the hosel of the club rather than the sweet spot. i get better results and hit sweet spot of club regularly not sure how this works is it because of my swing path and how do i aim irons correctly if i address the ball this way thanks help needed LoL!!!

As I walk towards my ball mentally preparing for the next shot, I try to wall directly "behind" the ball so I see it in a direct line (hopefully) to the green or my next target. This also gives me a feeling of distance - not having one of those fancy watches! - and which club I should consider using. This video adds another dimension to better aim!

I like it. The more golf I play and I've been playing for 35 years now and have done a lot of research on the swing and swing mechanics - the more I realise that 90% of the swing is just set-up and aim.

Great tip. I’ve been leveraging all VLS tips for 1 year now. Best thing going for seasoned golfers. (Jim, 54, Gainesville, GA)

100% agree about the club face contact. It’s the focus of my game now. Do what you want before and after although following through with intention toward your target sometimes helps

In order to aim correctly, you must determine your dominant eye. Very important when putting.

Pretty helpful. I was often pulling my irons cuz the topline was subconsciously influencing my aim. This was a bigger problem with offset irons like the Ping Eye 2's I used to play years ago and I tried to combat it by switching to less offset irons. But the simple act of lining up the toeline perpendicular to the ground has the clubhead looking much better at address and giving me great directional control. It's counterintuitive that putting feet together would help alignment, but it does. I am integrating that with the point along target line a few feet in front I have always used.
