I think the habit of not fully extending comes from training with pads and shadowboxing without correction or analysis. I can’t get away from fully extending my punches on the heavybag when I hit the bag bare knuckle; it’ll result in a distinct pain that’s different from the dull nearly unnoticeable throb from a correct, fully extended punch.

If you throw a short punch but with the intention of throwing it with full power won't it be effective? What if your opponent happens to come in and you hit him and no full extension? I think he will feel it.
