Can't LOSE Fat? Try These 2 Tips

Trying to lose weight as quickly as possible on the scale is a completely different focus than fat loss.

And often the faster we strive to see weight loss, the more we really don’t control for fat loss nor optimize our body recomposition.

Actually the more we can negatively impact our body recomposition results!

Because often in our attempt to lose weight faster, we slash our calories super low and try to exercise more.

This results in, yes more weight being lost, but this weight is not only fat but also MUSCLE.

It can also cause us to create metabolic adaptations and hormonal changes that can make us look SOFTER, which is the opposite of what we want to happen.

And this is especially the case when we’re working to lose those last 5 to 10 pounds.

You simply can’t out diet or out exercise TIME.

And while, yes, calories in vs calories out matters, we can’t focus on purely trying to starve ourselves by slashing our calories super low or creating more of a deficit through our training.

Actually we need to stop focusing on our training as a way to burn calories at all.

And we need to stop purely focusing on our calorie intake if we want the best fat loss results possible.

These improper weight loss practices, and even at times extreme deprivation diets and overtraining, are what lead to that horrible yo-yo dieting cycle.

They lead to potentially rapid weight loss on the scale, but also that inevitable weight gain.

Through these fad diets, we create unsustainable habits, thrown our bodies out of whack and often create metabolic adaptations that make it even harder to lose the weight the next time we attempt to.

So if you’ve ever thought to yourself, “My age just makes it so much harder?”

Or “It’s so much harder than it used to be to lose weight?”

Well that might have less to do with getting older, and more to do with the improper dieting practices you’ve implemented previously!

The great part is though, we CAN reverse much of the “damage” we’ve done.

We can retrain our body to eat more and lose fat while restoring our metabolic health.

But we have to stop looking for a fast fix.

Instead we sort of have to do the OPPOSITE of what we’ve been told to do…

We need to focus on these two key things…

Healthy diet, plenty of protein, lots of water, strength training, keep active, rest BUT also a daily treat! This has kept me slim for years x

I limited my calories, ate complex carbs and protein, trained like crazy both weights and cardio, and dropped a whopping 3 sizes in 45 days. THEN, got injured, packed on all back on, and I'm now bigger than ever with a permanent injury. Don't look for shortcuts and fast weight loss ladies. Be patient. Thanks for the video.

I feel like these are MORE than tips - they are the TRUE secret for loosing weight. I used to eat mostly veggies and meat only once or twice a week. I changed my diet by adding protein to breakfast and dinner (technically consuming more calories) and this simple change (like eating an egg for breakfast and adding meat, eggs or fish every dinner) along with weight training. I had been active with group dancing, yoga and karate for years, but only when I added the strength training and protein did the kilos start melting off. More people need to know about this, Cori!!! "No matter what your very inaccurate fitness tracker tells you." That made me chuckle..

Weight training is essential as we get older! Our skeletons are virtually replaced by new cells every 10 years, so it's possible to become better with age! It's also very empowering to be able to get the groceries in the house in one trip! Great tips as always!

I'm going to do this. I'm 55. Increase my protein and focus on strength training and no quick fixes. Thank you so much.

Fantastic video! Always on point! As someone with PCOS who is 40 yrs old, I can tell you that calories do not mean as much as macros! I struggled for years to improve my physique until I realized that my protein intake was extremely low. Trust me, listen, she speaks the TRUTH!

I wish I knew this in 2015 when I started my weight lost journey, omg! I did everything you mentioned in this video and yes it's true! I Lost a lotta weight, 65lbs but also lost tons of muscle :( I was totally untoned. Now, little cardio and major focus in strength training, I'm finally getting toned and losing fat (and I'm a 48yo female). Thanks for this video!

Focus on macros and strength training, letting go of all the restrictions and feeling deprived making better choices and not rushing the weight-loss being having patience.

Man, this is straight up honest advice. Thank you. I want to drop 10lbs and I have just not been focused enough. This is motivating me to put the sustainable diet habits into practice. I strength train almost exclusively. It's my diet that needs improvement.

Im a 41 year old female. 5'6" 199 pounds. I gained weight at 30 after my second child was born. I was always a fit energetic person at about 125 pounds before my back to back pregnancies.
I only ever tried one diet a few years ago, it was keto, and it wasnt sustainable. I had a solid 5 months of clean, honest keto but it was soul crushing. I wanted to eat apples and be comfortable at dinners with friends. I lost about 30 pounds total. But most of that was muscle. Before keto, i had great legs and arms even for being overweight. After keto and the weight gain after eating regular foods again, i had head to toe cellulite.
Im now focused on clean eating and muscle training. Its slow because i really have no experience with it all but im taking it slow and doing it right this time.
There really isnt a magic shortcut to weight-loss, muscle gain and being genuinely healthy.

Thank you so much. job.... I just moved states. I've been running on adrenaline for two years and in the process of turning that around. I've been making rest a priority and watching portion size. I've never eaten fast food or drinking alcohol. My weakness was eating as a way to pacify. Now I'm trying to find balance between diet and exercise but I haven't lifted weights in four years. (That's the time duration I gained this 60lbs) I'm hoping to start weight training four times a week and my challenge is to learn how to balance my macros. Anyhow, I resonate with your channel and principles. Thank you again for the clear direction and information.
