How to MAINTAIN Muscle on a VACATION
Показать описание
So I just got back from a 6 day vacation to Myrtle Beach, and I thought I’d share with you guys a few tips on how to stay on top of your training and nutrition when you’re away from home. First things first, stop worrying about losing muscle or losing strength. At the end of the day it’s only a week or so off of your normal routine, and although it may set you back slightly, you’ve gotta give yourself time in life where you can just step away and enjoy the moment. And trust me, a week off the gym is not gonna have any noticeable impact on your physique, even if your diet really isn’t that great. So when it comes to your training, I highly recommend taking a deload, which is essentially when you deliberately take time off the gym to let your body dissipate its overall fatigue. When you train for months and months on end, your body will accumulate fatigue, especially if you’re training with high intensity, and although adequate nutrition, sleep, hydration, rest, and so on will dissipate some of it, it can only really do so much, and eventually that fatigue builds up and starts to affect your training, hence why it gets harder to keep progressing. So, use this vacation as a time to let your body rest, and plan in advance so that you can schedule this deload on your vacation towards the end of your training cycle. If you don’t have access to a gym, then skipping it entirely will be fine, however, if you do, I highly recommend getting a few low intensity low volume workouts in, to keep your muscles fresh but without training close to failure and building up more fatigue, because again the goal is to rest. So maybe you workout every other day with 50% of the volume that you normally do, leaving about 4-6 reps in reserve. Now moving on to your nutrition, the only thing you really have to focus on is hitting your protein goal. Obviously, I wouldn’t recommend straying too far away from your normal diet, but enjoying a few meals with the bros is not gonna be the end of the world, and if you at least try to reach a sufficient amount of protein by the end of the day, then you’re not really going to lose that much muscle. Thankfully, I kept a tub of myprotein whey forward and creatine with me at all times to ensure that I hit my goal, especially considering my diet wasn’t really the greatest. Again it is only a week, unless you are a competitive bodybuilder, then it is totally ok to enjoy food, and have a few drinks if you are of the legal age. But again, do make sure you are at least getting your protein in, and eating somewhat intuitively so that you don’t end up gaining 25 lbs. To do that, I highly recommend Myprotein’s whey forward, as it has a 92% protein content and is completely sugar and animal free. Code “MAXE” is 45% off until April 12th, and I hope this video did help steer you in the right direction, but of course do remember, this is only for the vacation, you do unfortunately need to get back on top of your training and diet as soon as possible.
