Overcoming the ego is a problem. For her to even consider me again I feel she'd have to be able to admit to herself or others reasons to justify changing her mind. At this point she still feels it won't work. That my changes are a show, that she doesn't know me or think that I know myself. She has a point with how well do I know myself? The changes I've made have been consistent and I've been doing them for long enough that they don't feel like a show and are more habitual now but much of my changes have been in the "doing" and less about "being" I think. The changes I've made though are good for me regardless of what my relationship status is with anyone. When she said that though it did resound with me because I too feel like I don't know or recognize her and not particularly in all good ways. I've tried no contact which has proven difficult since we still live together and have kids together. I read into the contact too much at times because when I avoid contact she tries to turn it into me being an avoidant parent or gets argumentative and angry and swears at me or tries to trigger me it feels but I remain calm and don't speak badly of her to her or the kids regardless of the same consideration not being done for me. Its so hard for me to move on from this situation with how long we'd been together, kids together and still living together and how is it all going to work logistically and financially in the future but I also know there is truth to that it won't be until I have let go and moved on that I'll feel and be better or that she'd even think or try to come back. Regardless, any relationship I have going forward will have to be new, if it's with anyone else or not. If I don't fix what's wrong with me and know myself than the same issues that caused this relationship to end would likely cause any future one to have the same issues. Can't have happiness tied to someone else. I feel stuck with how I'd rather continue in the pain I know and problems we have but still have us be in a "relationship" than to picture that I could be better off without her. My standards of myself and what I accept of others needs to rise.
