How to update the bios on a Gigabyte Motherboard in windows.

One of the best things about the AM4 platform was how many AMD CPU generations it supported and now with AM5 coming out the previous generations are coming down in price it's a great time to buy.

We recently picked up a new Ryzen 5000 series CPU for our benching system, but we will need to update our Gigabyte B450 motherboards bios to get it working. Luckily Gigabyte have provided a simple and easy way to do it and that's what we will be going through in this video.

Honestly, on Gigabyte motherboards I'd advise everyone to boot to Bios and update it via Q-Flash and a USB stick with the new bios files on it, if possible. In my experience Gigabytes "Update Centre" is a very fickle and unstable app, that on occasions crashes and doesn't update the various apps properly.
Also, Bios is a far more stable clutter-free environment, where there is almost zero chance of something happening in background to disrupt that update. That's unlike Windows with it's bunch of hidden background updates, auto-reboots and possible crashes.
Also, most of Gigabyte AM4 motherboards come with the feature of a "Dual Bios" as standard (a backup Bios), so if a Bios update fails, just turn off your PC for 10 seconds and reboot. It should then jump over to that other reserve Bios, which will still allow you to boot up into Windows and carry on as normal. Because of this feature, it's hard to actually completely "brick" the motherboard via a Bios update failure.

Thank you so much for going through this. I've recently gotten a used computer and the bios was very old (51F or something). I've been apprehensive to update it because it acts a bit wonky sometimes and I didn't want to make it worse. Your walkthrough was spot on. Easy straight forward and now it's done. Thank you again.

Thank you so much for this tutorial it was hard to find a good one online that worked. I have the exact same motherboard and I jumped from f32 to f64 with no issues whatsoever

Thanks for the help. I just updated my bios from f5 to 64e with a brief stop at f32. I have never updated a bios before and this video made it possible to work my way through the process. Thanks to you I am now rocking an AMD 7-up from the AMD 5. Between the AMD 7 and the upgrade to an RTX 3060 the difference is amazing.

Thanks for this. Upgrading finally from a 2600 to a 5800X3D. I've not touched the bios in the 3+ years I've had it. According to my B450 aorus elite bios - it says its running version F32 hahaha

About Gigabyte AppCenter: After PC restart itself and wait for more than 10 mins, if there's only a White line flashing on the top left corner (this means "No working OS found") This is because the Boot Sequence is USB. I thought I failed my BIOS update and found it's not a fail.

My friend has this motherboard with bios F50. We tried updating via file and via the appcenter but we keep getting 'error updating. We tried F64, F63 and F51. Very weird. Any idea what this could be ?
