First time noob here, a word of advice - pay attention to MSI description post - bios update. It says change default boot setting, I thought that was a repair as part of the update. Nope! After getting BSOD, I had to disable secure boot, now PC operates properly. Hope this saves someone time and the hassle of trying to re-image their machine!

just to note, updating your bios may enable secure boot, so if you're having problems booting up or think you are stuck in a no signal loop, first try ctrl+alt+del and enter bios to disable it

My computer was freezing periodically while playing games. After trying different things to no avail I decided to try updating my BIOS. I followed this tutorial carefully and updated my BIOS successfully. It fixed my freezing issue. Thanks

Excellent video, but y'all forgot the part where it's required for the USB flash drive to be in FAT32 file system :)

Thanks so much for this easy-to-follow tutorial. My PC had been restarting unexpectedly for a while now and I couldn't figure out why. After some monitoring I realized it usually did so after watching Youtube for extended periods of time. I dug further and learned an outdated BIOS might be the issue so I downloaded the latest update and followed your video. So far no more issues. Thanks.

Loved the fact that M-FLASH on my Z690 allowed me to find the update file in the computer folder of my main drive where I downloaded it rather than having to use a flash drive

For my MSI X570 Creation, 2 things of note; 1st: I had to see the M-Flash screen only through an HDMI output. Wouldn't let me see it ever on Displayport. 2nd: contrary to manufacturer instructions of having my USB formatted to Fat32/ exFat, I could only read the file through NTFS. Hope this helps anyone and save you the 2 hours I troubleshooted.

Just updated my B550 tomahawk from version 7C91vA5 to 7C91vAF(latest), because I'm planning to upgrade to 5800x3d soon. The update went fine, but I couldn't boot to windows after, even after disabling secure boot and TPM. Luckily, everything was backed up, so I reinstalled windows. Update your bios only if you encounter issues or for a specific reason and don't forget to do a full backup of your files!

Most(All?) settings changes to default value and backups most likely are not be loadable after update, so go through all settings and write those down somewhere before update.

I just saw that my MSI B350M Mortar Arctic (from 2017) got a BIOS update for the latest CPUs from 2022! Thank you MSI for still delivering updates.
Now i can go form my first generation Ryzen _AMD R5 1600_ to the _AMD R7 5800X3D, R7 5700G, R9 5900X_ or even _R9 5950X!_ Imaging buying an _Intel i7 7600K_ in 2017 instead of a Ryzen. You would have stuck to that CPU the moment you bought it!

If your USB still isn't being recognized even after formatting it to FAT32: just don't eject the drive like the video instructs you to. After a lot of troubleshooting, that did the trick for me.

If you are having the problem whereby M-Flash is not detecting your USB then make sure your USB is in fat32 format and not Xfat or anything else. You might need a third party programme to do this. It fixed the issue for me

Literally best video for updating msi mobo's. No need to go anywhere else.

Note that after the bios update go back into your bios and reconfigure setting e.g. your ram will go back to default settings, so you need to change that

Make sure you have exact motherboard selected on the website before download. I spent hours trying to run bios for the Z-790 Pro, when in fact I needed the Pro Z-790-P.

If you can’t see your usb drive in M flash mode, try not to eject it, just reboot directly. It did the trick for me.

Would have been helpful to mention on the driver page or in this video that you need to get a drive with 32GB or less or storage and in FAT32 format.

1. Unzip the downloaded bios file
2. Open the folder from the unzipped file
3. Copy the file with a .A10 extension onto a FAT32 flash drive.
4. Reboot while holding Del key to enter BIOS
5. Select M-Flash
6. Select that .A10 file from before.

Why can't this be in text on your website? I get that some people need a video guide. But it would take so little work to have a text version for people who know how to move a file.
