The defendant needs to learn to SHUT HER BIG MOUTH. JJ possibly would have not awarded the plaintiff anything, due to the deduction for the lost wages.

If the defendant shut her mouth she wouldn't have to pay the 1k because she was about to say the plaintiff exaggerated the inventory taken.
Also if the plaintiff couldn't afford to pay staff and was unemployed why didn't she work in her own shop?

My only problem with this is why isn't employer theft (no wages) treated the same as theft of property? Both are stealing.

Defendant is indeed a thief, just as JJ stated. Plaintiff should be prepared to pay an employee BEFORE hiring them. A written contract would have been helpful here.
