Employee Caught Stealing $5,000 Worth of Gift Cards for Christmas

On December 28, 2022, officers from the Sunrise Police Department received a phone call from a local Burlington Coat Factory. The call reported that an employee was actively stealing from the store. The theft involved the employee reprinting receipts from previous customers and conducting fake returns, subsequently loading the money onto gift cards which she then used as store credit.
