My biggest problem with the game is the "stone sword key has been lost with use" message not letting me attack or heal

“I wouldn’t press square to summon torrent if I didn’t want to revive him dammit!”

For any mages who don't know about this, make sure your favorite/bread and butter spell is the first one memorized. If you hold the cycle magic button for a second, it will instantly go back to slot one. It's not a big fix for cycling magic, but it can get you back to that spell quicker

And totally, the annoying dialog boxes that locked you out of your attack controls. So many times, there was so much going on, I didn't even realize there was a dialog box open, and I'm screaming at the screen because my character is not doing anything but running around getting the crap kicked out of him..

I feel like if you truly love a game you can see its flaws without being blinded by fanboy syndrome, I was happy to see this list.

One of my biggest annoyances in the game so far is the messages that pop up when you open doors. They don't go away until you hit y but it doesn't prompt you to do it so if you are being attacked whem you open the door and run through to try and heal it wont because the message is still there.

One of my biggest problem with the game so far is the way that lock on works. I can be in the most intense 1v1 fight and then i lock on to an enemy that is miles away at random.

the biggest problems are attacks that can only be dodged by predicting they would happen 10 seconds prior, and input reading being way too ridiculous since bosses will just stare at you until you press a button sometimes.

BIG correction here: it's not the invaders that are AFK farmers, it's the HOSTS, they use the invader's taunt item to draw them in, and use the summon blues to fight invader's item to have them fight endlessly, also they use the horse to get to unreachable places before doing these, something invaders don't have

The lock-on issue in my eyes is that with large enemies the camera should zoom out, which would also make these fights more epic, but would give you a grasp of what's happening in the fight. That would be the solution the way i see it.

A good quality-of-life change would be if you could interact with ladders/chests/etc while crouching. It's just a wee bit annoying, sometimes dangerous if you accidentally crouch in combat, still a great game.

For number 5 they didn’t just “add markers to show npcs” they added markers to “found npcs.” This means you have to be within a certain distance of them, or have talked to them at that location for them to show up. If they move their marker will vanish and will only show up when you find/get near them in their new location. It just saves players having to waste limited markers on npcs

3:05 this is the other way around, it's the HOSTS that are afk farming, if an invader enters a game he gets nothing if the host disconects. The actual thing that happens is hosts hide in places that aren't accessible without a horse, and since horse is not available in MP, invaders can do nothing but leave.

I'd really like to be able to open my map even in combat. Not fast travel in combat just be able to see the map as I try to flee a Runebear.

my least favorite feature of elden ring is the input reading bosses have. This is when the AI waits for an input and generates a response. Its particularly egregious in the godskin duo fight but can also be seen in morgot and godfrey. I also don't like that they strayed away from a more combo based fighting style to a more random-chaotic style with the bosses attacks. DS3 in my opinion has far better boss fight design by a decent margin.

Am the only one who find the map incredibly hard to see sometimes like especially in the capital city, who thought a yellow cursor for your character was a good idea?

It does seem like often times From Software games get free passes on rushed or poor game design/balancing in the name of, "oh they meant to do that, it's supposed to be a challenge, this sort of game must not be for you." With Elden Ring it felt like this to the extreme because of how much insane hype there was, it just had to do nothing horrendously bad, and the community would make it a 10/10, even though due to certain design decisions it could be argued to be an 8 or 9.

I've got 3 pretty annoying gripes. 1st is the lack of tracking in your attacks. Bosses will track you to the top of the great erdtree with ease but if an enemy is slightly elevated because of hilly terrain my attack is going right into the ground and god forbid they slightly side step during a jump attack, lol. Also the outrageous amount of time you spend on the ground after getting knocked down. I can take hits from demi gods but if you knock me off my horse I'm seemingly going to need to sleep it off for a minute. Last but not least, enemies can attack through anything, be it wall or ground, but if my attack glances a tombstone it's done for.

As a melee character, my biggest gripe was the targeting system, for sure. It was especially frustrating to target large boss-like foes... because the camera can't handle it if the limb or body part you are targeting moves in front of you and behind you in a second, rapidly flipping the camera 180 degrees in the process... changing which direction is forward, etc. Target a dragon's head for an attack, and you'll quickly find the camera just nonstop spinning wildly. People say "oh... don't target bosses" but equipment doesn't work... say... shields... if you aren't just about perfectly facing the foe you are using it against. You are forced to lock, drop target, lock, drop target, and that in itself can be really hit or miss.

Also... with a boss like the gargoyles... the lowest place they can be targeted is their upper abdomen/chest. Your weapon doesn't even reach that high. I need to hit the boss in the legs, and in order to do so, i need to swing at his chest, and hope that the legs are between me and my target. its just bad design, and was clearly only tested with caster builds.

Fighting the ancient dragons is an absolute nightmare, too. (where nothing you can target can be hit with a melee weapon) put a target in the legs for the love of god.

One thing about elden ring is it's more forgiving with quest chains. You can miss some slight steps but still complete the quests unlike other souls games.
