Lovely interview and huge respect to her 👏many times I feel woman from earlier generations (our grandmothers ) were much stronger had lot of mental strength and courage and resilience than us. One thing which this generation has to learn from .We have so many facilities, opportunities and privileges, which they dint have then, still they faced it all and made it beating odds 👏👏

I have the privilege having known Mangalam for nearly fifty years and our friendship is deep and strong. We have volunteered in the same cultural organization for several years. She is extremely affectionate, down to earth and modest. She never talks about her achievements. For instance, we had to know from the news story in The New York Times that she was named one of the 50 (or 100, I forget) influential women in the country and she was recognized in a ceremony in New York by Mrs Elizabeth Dole, a cabinet member in President Bush's cabinet! And we friends had to find this out from a newspaper story! This personifies her inner make-up.

Loved listening to the interview. One thing I disagree with is accepting partners the way they are. I married someone and soon learned that he has addiction, would not work and was using me to pay for his lifestyle choices. I tried to change him for 14 years and then gave up. I am proud of the choice I made for myself.

" there are so many talented women that they can't have the position because they are the women" it's better but true.
Listen to this interview. from India very inspiring. Amma your story inspired me to work hard but really speaking still women doesn't have that much support or environment in both working and home place.
I came across this interview while I was feeling low and frustrating.
Thank you ❤

Hi Mangalam,

It's a pleasure to hear your tale. Everything about it, including your early years, your marriage and love, your decision to move for work, your career after marriage, having children, and everything else, is so inspirational that it feels like a movie.

Happy Internet Women Day to all women around the world! May you be happy and successful in your life, relationships and careers!

I love Mannie’s wisdom in this interview. It is incredible to sit down for such a deep conversation about life with 84–year old woman, who has lived through so much.

Her sense of humour, mental stability and peacefulness, clarity and purposefulness, and kindness with authenticity are truly inspiring!!!

This was so inspirational especially me being an Indian Hindu woman from Trinidad. She reminds me of my grandmother, strong, vibrant and independent just like her. Thanks for sharing and being an inspiration.
