I was actually an extra in this movie and it was very fascinating to see M. Night up close directing, and Josh Hartnett was such a nice guy always joking around and even acknowledging extras, we were filming these scenes at 6 am in the morning and he really set an example of how an actor should be on set.

A more likely scenario would be that M. Night created this movie around his daughter’s album.

The concert wasn't set up just to catch the killer. Hartnett's character already bought the ticket and the police found those tickets and arranged a setup with the singer. The concert was going to happen anyway

I feel like he’s not even trying to give a review on the movie

The real trap was for the audience to sit through M. Night’s daughter’s concert.

I hope Shyamalans daughter’s songs also have plot twists and mind blowing endings

No offense Chris but I don’t think anyone got anything from that review.

You complimented Josh’s performance, which is great and makes sense. You mentioned M. Night’s daughter generating a whole album for it, cool fact to add. And then you mentioned how nice it is to see a lot extras in a film again (sort of makes sense)…. But that’s it.

Doesn’t really feel like a review. You didn’t mention the endless plotholes in this movie, endless convenience for the characters, far too much of M. Night’s daughter and her music shown, the list could go on.

I think Chris if you’re going to make videos like this don’t use a “Movie Review” template. Make it more a film study template and discuss how some shots are made. Use the platform to teach everyday people more about lighting, camera work, acting strategies and just overall how everything works on set. I think that would be a much cooler and far better fit video concept for your channel.

Chris, have you considered he’s “avoided the studio IP system for almost 30 years now” because the LAST time he worked with in IP it was ONE OF THE MOST LEGENDARILY AWFUL MOVIES OF ALL TIME?

Not really something to brag about.

It's great to see Josh Hartnett in a leading role. His character is so charismatic, and has a sweet relationship with his daughter, that you almost forget that he's the baddie. It gives me "You" vibes, with Penn Badgley.

I love your point about crowds and background talent. The Sam Raimi Spidey trilogy makes New York seem like a living, breathing place. And i think a lot of that is because of the extra's and the smaller roles.

I was watching Phone Booth recently which is a favorite of mine, and again, the city feels alive. So many people, and cars, hussle and bussle, litter, smog and shop fronts. It feels like a real believable place

Ever since Chris entered the Hollywood industry, it seems like he's been holding back his criticism of films. He's been praising even the films that aren't very good. Oh God, I misses the "A+, B- and Hilariocity reviews.

This really isn't a review, it's just you talking about technicalities. I'm glad you acknowledge that it's great when a movie is what the movie maker wants it to be (especially since you're a film maker yourself), but from a viewer's point of view I didn't get anything from this "review". Your "reviews" don't feel like they have any objectivity nowadays, which doesn't make me want to go see the movie. I dunno, I used to really value your take on films, but now it almost feels like you're doing a disservice to movie by not critiquing anything - just selling it regardless of quality. I'm not saying your review is wrong (there is subjectivity in reviews, obviously), but these same takes feel meaningless. Maybe instead of "reviews" you do breakdowns? Or how they inspired you?
Whatever - I'm super looking forward to Shelby Oaks and backed it because I've loved your work for years now. Just wanted to share my thoughts as one of those fans.

'Member when Chris still had the balls to call a Shyamalan movie a piece of s***? I 'member!

They didn't create the concert as a trap, they found the killer was already going (the receipt) and knew they'd have a chance to catch him there.

Cutting out the constructive criticisms from your reviews makes everything feel inauthentic. Its like you're holding your breathe. It always feels like you're dancing around what you really want to say. Always been a big fan

I get rooting for Shyamalan to succeed but I just never feel like Chris is able to be genuinely objective and unbiased when reviewing any of his films

bro is scared to call a movie bad ever since he became a director 💀

I feel like I need to clarify a point about the "trap." The police didn't stage the concert to catch him. The concert was already happening. It was planned independently of the police's involvement. As said by the vendor he was talking to, the police received an anonymous tip that the killer would be at the concert, so they capitalized on that.

Anyone who walked away thinking the police staged the concert wasn't paying attention.
