Word of mouth is a powerful tool—in fact, the Gospels of the New Testament were first written down 50 years after Jesus's death as records of what Greek-speaking Christians heard about Jesus's life and deeds. Although this complicates things when considering the sources, historians navigate problems like these all the time. Get as close to the source as possible right here.

It's disappointing to read comments of fellow atheists who clearly did not watch this video before doing so. It is sad to see how they act as fanatical as their counterpart, which they openly ridicule and criticize.

Christianity is all about faith. No one can prove anything about what's written in the Bible.I was not there, neither were you, so belief comes by revelation by God Himself. His laws are written in our hearts, if we have a relationship with Him. I know it is not scientific but this is how I believe it all works. The Bible states that Jesus said " many are called, but few are chosen". Even if you think this is a lot of " bunk", I still believe Jesus teachings are better than anything that you or I can make up. It's all by faith, because if it were by proof, then it's not faith anymore!! I'm going to keep believing, how about you?

Most Christians should be called Paulists.
On the other hand, Western scholars are completely accepting of oral history for every other religion and culture in history, but when it comes to Christianity they develop the most myopic pedantry - why is that?
AND why is Joesephus reliable, but nobidy else? Who was Josephus? Who really wrote the texts we attribute to Josephus? Let's start an micro-industry studying the historicity of Roman and Greek historians.

Jesus was a Prophet in a line of prophets from the time of Adam, calling to the worship of the One and the ONLY God, Glory to Him.

"And verily We have raised in every nation a messenger, (proclaiming): Serve Allah and shun false gods. Then some of them (there were) whom Allah guided, and some of them (there were) upon whom error had just hold. Do but travel in the land and see the nature of the consequence for the deniers!"
[The Qur'an 16:36]

As any scholar should do, he provides an account on the sources that we have and their reliability as historical documents.

How do you know that the original wasn’t written in Hebrew or Aramaic and translated to Greek later?

There is history in the bible but it's not a historical document, it comes down to faith and belief and if you follow his teachings and lead a good helpful caring life how is that bad.

9:51 minute. It's not just to say almost people change the story.there are many reasons for to same event described in different ways.all 12 disciples or all 11 disciples always were not in Jesus or at the time of event happened its obvious they have to go-to treat there family or many other reasons .and because of persecution followers of Jesus were scattered some were killed and may be some were not gathered together so when holy spirit (after Jesus death and resurrection and ascension holy spirit is the guider of and true believers of Jesus)inspired to write about certain things person wrote it by his effort as possible ways that receive certain informations he didn't know so he can has errors in about things happened in sequences of time and exact people who were there, etc.God foretold about Jesus everything that man can understand without confusion in old testament through his holy prophets.

If you want a current reputed scholar try Dr Gary Habermas “Historical Jesus” or NT Wright.

Many people read the Bible. Some read it without understanding because they do not have the Holy Spirit. The Bible cannot be read like any other book. It is unique and we first have to give God permission to remove the scales from our eyes, the veil on our faces and the callous off our hearts and then the truth that has always been so plainly set before us, only then, shall it set us free. The fear of The Lord is the beginning of wisdom. The disciples died for their truth and their faith, they died gruesome deaths for sharing their first hand accounts with The Lord. Who do you know that would die for a lie? The discrepancies are because we are all human, we share our experiences from our view point however, the stories as you call them have the same distinct message and when you focus on the miracles that actually took place, the peripheral things (discrepancies) fades into the overwhelming truth. Now if everyone had the exact same account, you would've said that they got together and planned their stories, no? If you want to experience the truth in the Word, join Fathers House Church online service, Sunday 9am, lead by pastor George.

I think this guy in this is taking Jesus‘s words literally instead of as a idea, and I think he’s misconstruing things and giving in a negative light and I’m sad for that because he’s treating religion like Math he’s trying, but I think it’s not doing Jesus‘s words justice at all I think it’sfalling very short

I'm a bit skeptical of the claim at that Jesus did not believe that the kingdom of God was place that the soul went to after death, but rather a kingdom on earth that he would rule as a kind of political leader while living. Even if you ignore the accounts of Jesus foretelling his own death and resurrection, many other sayings attributed to Jesus (e.g. the story of the rich man and Lazarus, his teaching about there being no marriage in the resurrection, comments on the poor in this life being raised up in the next, etc.) seem to indicate that he believed the kingdom of God was an eternal kingdom that the soul went to after death rather than just a new state like the Roman empire.

The lecturer in this video points out that some of Jesus' teachings appear to be based on existing apocalyptic views in the Jewish tradition, but then he just assumes that Jesus must have believed everything that other Jewish apocalyptic thinkers of the time believed (i.e. the coming kingdom of God would be for the living on earth), even though the only sources we have suggest he believed in the resurrection and eternal life after death. Acts of the Apostles also includes an account of Paul being questioned by two different sects of Jewish leaders, the Pharisees and the Sadducees, the former of whom are said to believe in the resurrection and the latter of whom do not, so it's clear that there was already a tradition in Judaism that believed in a life after death which may have provided the context needed to understand Jesus' teachings and beliefs about the coming kingdom of God.
