There are two major damage types in Elden Ring; Physical Damage and Elemental Damage. In this video, I share everything you need to know about all Elemental Damage types: magic damage, fire damage, lightning damage and holy damage. I will share both strengths and weaknesses of every single one of them, as some might be fantastic in certain situations while others are not. Some damage types are great to use against armored enemies, but will be ineffective against fleshy targets. There are many different ways to deal these types of damage: Elemental arrows, grease to apply on weapons, Sorceries, spells, Incantations and more. I will show all elemental damage types in action against different targets with light armor, medium armor, heavy armor or no armor at all!

Those tree bosses are extremely weak to fire damage, but very resistant to holy damage.
Also ghost or spirit type enemies are immune to bleed damage.

The crystalline bosses are EXTREMELY vulnerable to lightning damage. You can get both the flail for strike damage and lightning grease early on and makes them all pretty easy

I don't think you could be more incorrect by saying that holy damage has no downsides. Most of the toughest bosses in the game are strong vs holy damage. If you want a PvE build for ng+ and beyond then holy is the worst choice. It fucking slaps in PvP though

The lightning armament buff also adds a slight stun you hit enemies. It’s just enough to give you more time to attack if your weapon is fast enough.

Environments affect your resistances, too! When you're in water or it's raining, fire resistance is increased, and lightning resistance is decreased.

Where I can agree on most part about weaknesses part of element types, I have to point out, that in case of bosses, you always want to have an alternative. Tbh, my experience with Dark Souls series taught me, that no matter what kind of build you have, you ALWAYS want to have a non-elemental weapon with you. Many bosses have some kind of resistances, sometimes they're not obvious. So either check the wiki and prepare accordingly, or carry alternative way of dealing damage.

I have serious doubts about this guide, as in the video (4:28), he said holy damage doesn't have any real weaknesses, considering the amount of late game bosses highly resistant to/immune to holy damage.

could you cover ash of war affinity damage type, recommendation for early and late game.

If the item/weapon description says “Those who live in death” it usually means kills using that, they’re unable to revive. Mostly skeletons. Things like holy grease, the inseparable sword and gold(holy) glowing AOW will also do this.

Most bosses have increased resistance to holy damage :(

I can never understand why does fire dmg doesn't do any damage over time.... I mean...things are burning.

I would also add that lightning damage does very well against machine-type enemies.

Thank for the tips now I know why the draconic sentinel almost 1 shot me with his red lightning I'm pretty heavy armored or lightning/magic is pretty much 4x weakness for me lol

holy damage have weaknesses. demi gods and other religous enemies have resistance against holy damage.

Over 400+ hours in this game and I just found out that using holy damage prevents undead from rising again wtf 😂😂 love this game!
