Footage taken during the second day of the CNT. Unreleased until now.
I feel very good about this addition to the game and hope other weapons follow suit in this new mechanic!

Thank you so much to Amir for help editing the video.

If Fromsoft can't find time to add similar animations to other weapon classes, they can allow other classes to cancel the R2s into backstep since the follow-up to these flip animations are similar to the backstep follow-ups. It will still be preferable to have unique similar animations to all other classes of weapons, however, we will take canceling R2s into backsteps over not having anything at all any day.

p.s. Elden Ring is Ashes clone confirmed! lol

between this and making r2's do more poise damage, they've really done alot to make heavy attacks more viable all around, super happy about that

Can’t believe these attacks are actually possible to consistently use now

great katanas, beast claws and perfumer bottles from the DLC work with this mechanic as well

This was probably obvious to everyone else, but this technique only works for Thrusting Swords, Great Thrusting Swords, and Curved Swords. It cannot be performed with other weapon types, including Curved Greatswords.

The Ash of War: Kick is purchasable, as well.
Sold by a Knight in northern Stormhill for 800 runes.

wow this is really really cool, i love that they expanded the combat so much like poise, guard counter, horseback, powerstance, arts of war ect..

Omg that's amazing, I would have never expected non glitched ways to feint attacks in a souls game. I love it!

With the dlc, you can now feint with Cruved swords, thrusting swords, heavy thrusting swords, great katanas, and beast claws

This is crazy, I wonder how many other hidden mechanics this game has... even veteran Souls players didn't find this.

One of the things I love that I’m noticing is that Elden Ring is encouraging you to fight LIKE a boss, with the new mechanics encouraging a variation of light and heavy attacks, more use of jumping and jump attacks in combat, the counter system, and now a fucking feint backflip, as if they couldn’t be any more clear. No more Chosen Ones spamming R1 attacks. I’m excited to see someone master the game’s mechanics and move around like the Abyss Watchers.

A tip for the feint, the attack itself counts as a backstep, so you can follow up with a backstep attack from it without having to press backstep again

If you use this in conjunction with the “Frozen Needle” rapier you can rapid fire ice!

Wow, this is such a neat mechanic! This will add another layer of complexity to the combat, which is great!

The animation is so fluid. The swing leading into the backflip doesn't look janky or too fast or anything. No matter when you do it, it looks amazing.

Honestly, I think I might overwhelmed by everything in elden ring. It’s kinda crazy.

This is so cool. I'm definitely going to experiment with this when ER is finally out. The dream would be a fist weapon that scales (bare hands do not) and has the kick art, so I can enjoy damage, kicks and backflips all at once.
