Clicker Training FOR CATS Tutorial - How to CLICKER TRAIN CAT in 3 steps

Learn how to teach your cat tricks using clicker training with 3 simple steps.

It only took me one week to start teaching tricks training to Mia, my bengal cat. By using this simple method, clicker training your cat/s can be easy and fast.

A clicker is simply a small mechanical noisemaker. Clicker training is the same as positive reinforcement training. It links classic conditioning with some animal ethology science that says that behaviors that are rewarded are more likely to be repeated.

Instead of focusing on what your cat is doing wrong (which we know will continue to happen), focus your cat's attention on what she or he is doing right.

Dude I tried this with my two half-Bengal kittens and it totally works! 6 months in, they can do finger targeting, come when called, sit, lie down, roll over, go into their condo, reach up on their hind paws, and sometimes stay (if they feel like it XD).

I want to clarify one thing he says in the vid which confused me at first: "charging" the clicker. Basically what this means is to associate the sound of the clicker with giving your cat treats. I combined this with teaching them their names, so they would expect something good from me whenever they were called. Basically I just said one of their names, clicked, and gave that one a treat (same for the other) over and over for a few minutes over a few days. Then moved on to finger targeting, sit, and beyond.

You can do this! Cats like to learn and it brings you closer together!

Great video. I agree, I think most of the problems people end up having with cats are caused by two things, free feeding and not enough attention.

I’ve been training my kitten for around a week now with the help of this video(I literally did exactly as Albert described), and I’m so excited to say that today it’s finally paid off, in training Milo, my kitten, went everywhere I pointed even to the top of his super tall post! So thank you so much Albert!! you’re videos are so so helpful, and everyone should watch them because they actually work and they’re very easy to follow :) thank you!!

i just wanted to thank you once again for these amazing videos. i've started training with my cat about a month and a half ago and she can follow finger, sit, fist bump and jump in an arm hoop in sequence for just one treat! every time i post a video of her on twitter it blows up! she is not a very cuddly cat so this is has been an enormous bonding experience for us that we hadnt even known was possible. thank you so much!

Great video! I’ve got a very eager little 6-month old black kittie who’s been acting as my wing-man ever since I rescued him when he was only a few weeks old. He’s smart AF, loves adventures, and definitely ready for this!

I just wanted to say thank you so much for uploading these videos and explaining how easy it is to clicker train a cat. my Bengal girl who is 10 used to drive me insane, once I started clicker training she became the cat I've always wanted. I wish I knew about these skills when I had her at Mia's age as we would have had a better relationship but that's all changed now and we're in such a good place together!

she actually picks up skills like a young cat would, I haven't had to work hard on her either, in fact I started adding in additional skills a bit early as it she didn't appear challenged enough with just "sit". so now she can sit, get into the carrier (that was a major goal for me), sit and stay (working on this one still but it's going well, finger targetting is going well but still needs work.

she sleeps through the night, doesn't hassle me for food constantly or attention, she's challenged, happy and stimulated.

Thank you

My kitty is so chill lol I came to see how to train my kitty only to realize that she does all of the things at the end and more by herself! Very informative and will still get a clicker lol. Loved the video!

I’ve really want a bengal cat but I can only have one cat at once. I’ve had my cat for nine years. She’s my childhood pet. She’s a shorthair tuxedo and your videos have helped a lot with the bonding experience. Even tho I’ve had her for nine years she’s been ignoring me but thx to your videos we have an inseparable bond now. She was born at my house so I have been handling her since she was born.

My house cat refused to be a house cat so I trained him to come home to the clicker. It worked better at night when it was silent. Lol

Hi there - love your videos! We just got two Bengal kittens who are so fun. Could you do a video on feeding? 1- how you went from free feeding to a schedule? 2- what kind of food you use and 3- when do you feed your cat? Thank you so much!! 🙏🏻
