I got a 5 month old kitten
He is the smartest cat I’ve ever encounter. With Zero clicker and just verbal commands and positive rewards only, he is trained enough to only get on the bed when called, he walks in the room when called, seats and gives paw, gives kisses and knows “up” “down” “food” “lay” “relax” “window”
I can only imagine what he will be capable of with a clicker

This is the single most valuable, comprehensive but abbreviated demonstration of clicker training i have been lucky enough to stumble upon.
For real.
She didn't get the purpose of the other clicker the way i thought i was doing it right.
This short deserves an award. From it, i got:
· Positioning is super important- almost looking up at me
· 1 click:1 squeeze
· Rhythm and pacing
· Dab my finger with treat and nonchalantly waive it around her have while i talk to her and coax her.
Today, after 1 session yesterday, she immediately knew all the little things✨

My cats all know they get treats when they come when called, it’s very funny and cute to show guests 😂

People say "You can't teach an old dog new tricks" but I infact have trained my 10 year old cat to sit, shake, lie down, and spin. He is just way to enthusiastic about it now so he'll stay guarding the treat cabinet, pleading... Or sometimes he'll put his paw out and smell your other hand expecting it to work like a magic treat dispenser lol. Sometimes he'll even sit there with his paw out looking at your hands like a treat will appear

I didn't use a mechanical clicker, I just clucked at my cat when giving treats, petting him or greeting him.

My cat learned the phrase "You want some treats?" I say that and she sits by the pantry door. Sometimes, she looks at me, looks at the door, and then looks back at me! 😹

Those type of treats are heaven. I always use them as rewards and also when I need to give them meds. The clicker looks super awesome, I would love to see you use it in a training example.

Ohhhh ...those "squeezy treats" are magic in a tube lol. Been trying to introduce a former outside stray cat (after vet check/meds and neutering) with my 3 inside cats. They will sit so close to each other now just by squeezing a little treat on the floor in front of each of them. 💜

I trained my cat but by clicking my tongue she responded every time I called her, it was her name following the clicking tongue sound, it was a sound that I used especially for important situations and most of the time subsequently a treat.✨️
But I live with my family and everyone decide they will make her come to them, so they learn my clicking tongue sound and started using it just for the pleasure of doing it. So yes, she doesn't respond at all now, and this isn't the first time they do this🥲

Clicker or no clicker my cat would be focused on that treat. He'd get his way no matter what. He's got me whipped.

My young kitty wouldn't let me hold her when she was little and wild, but every time she let me pick her up and hold her I gave her a kitty treat. She doesn't exactly sit on my lap, but I do get a kitty hug more often.

Clicker training is not only great way to teach both a cat and dog something, but like you said it can be an Amazing way to build a very good bond with your pet.

What happens when your cats are not food motivated? Getting one of my cat to eat and gain weight was my biggest challenge over his entire life! Initially I tried that…you eat what I give you; to eat at a specific time or no food…and now over 10 years later what you want to eat, you don’t want this? How about this? Are you hungry? You eating?, good boy! 😂😂😂
Think I got meow trained..😂
