I agree with all of this. 7 years ago I was 105 kilo. After an operation in hospital I decided to change my life. First I gave up smoking and took up exercise to rid myself of nicotine and tar. I began slow jogging and stopping a minute every 10 minutes. Then I ran 3 kilometres, then got to 5. I also dieted and started boxing training. Then took up Krav Maga. I am now a very fit 70 kilo. And at 58 years of age I can ride my bike as far as I like. 90 kilometres last weekend. The secret is to always challenge yourself and to keep lifting the bar.

“Be the designer of your world and not merely the consumer of it.” I like this quote from the book. There's also a meditation workbook called 30 Days to Reduce Stress by Harper Daniels that I think is practical and helpful for habits and letting go of anxieties.

Hey Robin just want to say thank you sincerely, for sharing the gift of your compelling voice and contemplative mind. I have listened to your audios on and off for the last 4 years, and your genuine work has always encouraged and guided me to think and act upon better principles such as responsibility, righteousness, integrity, and strength---I have matured in both my personal relationships and professional career by listening and practicing the lessons you share with us. Thank you for being a great teacher and an authentic sharer of invaluable moral standards and knowledge.

"Adapt speech to be consistent with your identity".

Something I've incorporated into my life that set me free of my gaming addiction.💪🏾

"Be careful not to pursue the metric, for example how many times you go the gym versus actually getting fitter".

This is excellent. I deleted all my social media for this exact reason, because so many people are there to be able to show people "look at me, Im Im amazing" seeking validation in this way is actually the antithesis of the pursuit. Which is why theres no cameras allowed in my martial arts dojo.

Edit: "let your success be your noise" man this is really great stuff

I was honestly hoping or wishing someone could make a in-depth summary of this book and here you are. Bless you Vox Stoica

This video came at a really good time. I've been putting off reading the book (haha the irony), so your summarized version is very helpful.

It's also made me realize why my cycling habit had survived for so long. I had, almost instinctually, made a deal with myself that if I got dressed up to go cycling, and put on my shoes and *still* felt like I didn't want to go, I would stay home

Thankfully, I can only count on one hand how many times I felt that! It was too much of a hassle for me to change clothes and take off my shoes, than it was to just go and bike.

I’m a huge fan of both Robin and James Clear! Life changing stuff!

A game changer for me was when I started a health journal. Every day I write weight, exercise and what and when I’ve eaten.

I use the journal to prove to myself I can do things and thus believe it.

I have found I can harness my own laziness to good effect by knowing I did 50 push-ups without stopping each day for the last 2 weeks, so I push myself to 50 so that I don’t need to write down 48!

This was very good . All similar advice that I have mentioned many times to those working under me. All gym /fitness related points here were spot on .
Without sustainable habits - you're eventually spinning your wheels and going nowhere.

"It is the small, seemingly inconsequential decisions that we make moment to moment that determines what we become, who we are." Dove tails with a quote from the book.

I'm requesting a book summary of psycho cybernetics book it's great book. I believe it'll help more people who are in self improvement. It's a good extension for atomic habits. Learning how to visualise better. And thanks for these book summaries.
