It's ironic how both Lannister brothers saved the city and in the end were hated by it

In the books it’s more heartbreaking since Tyrion built this image of Shae that wasn’t true. She wasn’t a hooker with a heart of gold she was an opportunist looking for a meal ticket. Cause before he kills her she calls Tyrion her giant of Lannister and he murders her.

Oberyn: That's all? What an amateur!

“Prince Obryn looked curious.” I bet he did 💀

The real humiliating part is that "my giant" was a pet name she used to call him, it was an endearment she came up with herself... And then used it against him.

And the next time they meet she again calls him her giant of Lannister. 'That was the worst thing you could have said, sweetling.'

This was his MOMENT, that scene gives me goosebumps every time when he addresses everyone about the Battle of Blackwater and how he saved them

Shae is Varys' spy to emotionally manipulate Tyrion and cause strife between him and Tywin. That's why in the end he puts her in Tywin's bed. The proof is when Shae recognizes Varys in disguise immediately, when Tyrion saw him and thought it was just some guy.

Tyrion tries to say to himself she's a whore, but he's still jealous and upset about her all the time. Symon SIlvertongue is also Varys' spy since that plot only shows how vulnerable Tyrion is.

Varys set up the conflict to escalate and he even guides Tyrion to a tunnel leading to the Tower of the Hand so he would go and kill Tywin. Even the crossbow on the wall had a piece of furniture there so Tyrion could reach it, and Shae was testifying against him and was in Tywin's bed to enrage Tyrion more. Varys got Tyrion himself to get rid of the evidence lol.

Varys manipulated Tyrion into being his assassin and got Tyrion to think that Varys is his friend. What a spider that guy.
Stannis was right when he said all the men from Aerys' court should have been executed for treason instead of being pardoned.

Oberyns inquiry wasn't due to concern, but rather, curiosity and intrigue

In the books, Shae never really pretended to be in love with him.

It's also relevant that shay in the books is described as very young, probably still in her teens. Which makes said testimony sound even worse. The actress who played Shay in the show was in her late thirties which changes the dynamic a lot.

idk man, I think her confession in the show was also pretty damn humiliating as well

"I should have let Stannis kill you all..."
I like that he says some of his thoughts. They're some of the coldest lines in the whole story.

And very relatable. I think many of us have been betrayed by those we've helped.

Oberyn: What kind of things
Tyrion: Oberyn I hope you choke on your words
Tyrion 24 hours later: I shouldn't have said that. I should not have said that

It makes sense it's not like she was in love with him, and that was the only way she could probably live.
