Blender vs 3ds Max+Vray for Interior Design

In this video, I compare the capabilities of 3ds max and Vray versus Blender in interior design. I liked Blender. Without add-ons, it's not very good for architecture and design, but if you install the right add-ons it becomes very functional and you can make great projects in it. Remember that in architecture and design, the idea and the concept are much more important than the quality of the rendering.

A list of recommended add-ons for blender:
QuickShape
CAD Tools
Align Tools
Select Through
QuickDeform
Archipack
SureUV
E-Cycles

I used 3ds max for 11 years.
I do agree on lots of points. Except the point when he said you break your fingers in blender. To reach for shortcuts.

I feel after using blender for 8 months. Its actually much faster shortcuts workflow than 3ds max. I can model also twice as fast. All our employees are really surprised how fast i can finish something compared to them using 3ds max.

Also last point he said max designed for architecture work. I don't really agree much. Autodesk still put 3ds max under animation category. But its popular within the 3d architecture community. But it was not originally designed for such usage. Otherwise they could have added lots of tools to make architecture modeling 200 times faster and easier.

In my opinion.
Thank you for the video

Thanks for the comparison
16:08 You can easily place objects in blender, turn on snapping, in the menu  click on -face- and on -align rotation to target-,
when you move objects with Grab, they follow nicely even on curved surfaces.

Hello, I use 3dsmax since the last century, and discover blender a couple of years ago, and the truth, blender surpasses 3dsmax in absolutely everything, I feel let down by 3dsmax by continuing with a program too complex and slow to model and render, the blender program has simplified everything in such a way that migrating from other 3D software to blender is very easy and the results are amazing.

excellent video, the comparisons are very complete and informative. Im using and learning 3ds Max at the moment but I get frustrated with how "heavy" the software feels and runs, and how inconvenient it is for creating basic shapes or models, so I'm thinking to try Blender or Cinema 4D

I think Blender has a close equivalent of the UVW Map modifier but its implemented on a material level with the Texture Coordinate and Mapping nodes.

Talking about UVW in blender, what about cube projection, which is there by default? I think it does unwraping in object scale, where 1 is weirdly equal to 2m [the default size of primitives]

Itoo offers a free plugin for Max wich allows you to work with arrays like in Blender. Its implemented in the modiferstack.

Hi Mr P, could you help me find the "Select Through" addon, because I can't find it

I use Blender mainly in my workflow. But the problem with that is, als you already show in your video. To work fine and fast in Blender you need a Plugin or script for nearly everything. I tried to work in Blender vanilla, its a pain. For sure, ther are also a lot of plugins and scripts for max, but the basic tools are already in there. And if you look for the costs; a good Addon for Blender for a better workflow in enviroment, to scatter plants an so on, costs nowadays nearly the same as forestpack for 3ds Max. Sure the software Blender itselfs is free, but a lot of plugins costs money. And if the Addondeveloper dont´t update his Addon in future, then its useless in future Blenderversions. I like it very much to work in Blender, its easy to work (with the right addons :) ) and its easy to get a nice render. In Max it tooks longer to get good results. But there are other handicaps in Blender. To setup Renderpasses, its a pain in Blender. And you get not as many as in other Rendersolutions. So with Blender you are some limited in post. But thats only my opinion.

I would add Sverchok to the addons, even though it's a bit more advanced

Скажи, пожалуйста, какие характеристики у твоего ПК здесь?

How do you know all those add-on would work in next version of Blender? Blender has a habit of breaking add-ons. Also try to have some tress. Blender just die.

Do You Guys believe Blender can produce realistic scenes like 3ds V ray or Corona?

Почти все так как и уменя))). Но время рендера у меня наоборот меньше в блендере. Клавиши переназначил под левую руку как в максе. Привыкаю помаленьку
