Spiritual Gifts Ceased? Arguments for Cessationism

Cessationism is the view that certain spiritual gifts have ceased. We’re talking about gifts like prophecy, tongues, word of knowledge, healings, and miracles. Some say God was only using these gifts during the apostolic age. When that age ended, the miracles associated with that age also ended—or ceased. Hence Cessationism. Here are the top 6 reasons Christians give for this view.

This writings from Augustin's early writings you have to ignore the later rightings about the many miracles he preformed and how he totally rebuked hisbearlier views on the matter.

So what do we do with Acts 2:17. We can agree that we are in the end times, right? Then what does "pour out His Spirit on" look like? What were dreams, visions and prophesy used for in the past? Wouldn't that be what they would be used for now?

As a cessationist, I appreciate your effort to properly represent the position (which is very rare). Though, I don't believe you really gave the best arguments for cessationism. I also think the first one you listed is kind or rare, I've never actually heard a cessationist assert that "the perfect" is the NT (though, I do know some have argued that, I think that's a poor argument).

I no longer believe in speaking in tongues, after my friend whom was a Pastors son, himself told me that he was simply faking in speaking tongues .He told other pastors would put their hands on his head and pray "Demon Leave This Child, And Allow Him To Speak In Tongue" Because he felt irritated he faked speaking in tongue by simply making some words of his own.

And I Believe If one doesn't speak in tongues doesn't mean he/she wont go to heaven. All believers whom have accept ed Jesus Christ as the savior and He Did Die and Rose From the Deadline, accepting the TRUE gospel of christ, will go to heaven .

I Believe we still have all gifts But how they are applied and how they happen is chosen by god. NOT some man going up and making a display of himself on a stage running around speaking gibberish to "heal" someone. What ever you ask in Jesus name he will do, if it brings glory to the father and son.

Brother, I have to disagree with the Cessationists view. It simpy doesn't hold
up biblically or historically. The gifts most certainly continued
after the Apostles. The Early Church Fathers spoke of the Gifts of the
Spirit in their day. For example, Justin Martyr (100-165 AD) wrote "The
prophetical gifts remain with us, even to the present time. And hence
you should understand that [the gifts] formerly among your nation have
been transferred to us. Justin Martyr (c. 160, E), 1.240."
