Hence why people should be encouraged to go out & just sit in parks & beaches not limited to only being allowed out while exercising/moving. Many of those most at risk from vitamin d deficiency aren't healthy enough to be able to walk for an hour a day & at this time of year, to even achieve a maintenance dose of of vitamin d from the sun will require direct sunlight, (not walking in & out of shade) for 30-60 minutes or more, depending on the time of day, so Melbourne's rules are actually causing serious problems in this regard!

& sunlight is better than vitamin supplements for this! supplements are more convenient for daily use, but they don't work for everyone, especially those with very low starting levels. I've personally been battling with a vitamin d problem for a couple of years now, whatever I took, I couldn't get the levels to show below the test's cut of of <20 & I was getting adverse reactions to the supplements as well! Eventually, under medical supervision & with fears of how I was going to handle covid with that & other medical issues, I bought a narrow band uvb light specifically designed for vitamin d supplementation & within 3 months, my levels have increased to 75! (60-80 is the ideal high level range). People need access to sunlight & fresh air for their health! (note I have on occasion managed to get my vitamin d up with sunlight too, but due to declining health it wasn't practical to get daily sun exposure, which is what I need to boost it. The body only makes a small amount each day, after that nothing more happens, so sunlight must be a small daily dose, can't be a big dose once a week or anything like that)

& btw I feel SO much better with my vitamin d levels up! My bone pain in particular has now completely gone! Get the sunlight people!
