Clinical Psychologist, Anna Bednarek of Well Mind & Body Psychology takes you through a 8min ACT Mindfulness of Eating Meditation, which can gradually help to reshape the “how” we eat, and help us reconnect with the sensations of eating as well as reconnect with our bodies.

When was the last time you truly paid attention to what and how you are eating? Mindful eating helps us tune into this every day activity and can help to reshape years of not paying attention to our bodies and improve our relationship with food. Many of us from childhood have been taught to not pay attention to our bodies (“You can’t leave the table until you have eaten everything on your plate!”, or “no, you can’t have more - you couldn’t possibly still be hungry”) or to not pay attention to how we’re eating (having the TV playing in the background which we pay more attention to, or being told to hurry and just finish our meals) so over time some of us can disconnect from sensations of hunger and fullness, and develop rules around eating rather than tuning into our intuitive sense of what our bodies need and want.
