With the renewal of you line, I highly recommend you bed your reel with 8lb mono using a line distance counter ( get off ebay for a few quid) leaving the spool 180m (200 yards) short. Then line your reel with your chosen line.

Good tips Simon, another one I'd like to add is the cost of heat shrink tube which is subject to a heavy Carp Tax.

A packet of standard, any make tube is say £3 ish, that works out at approx. £6 per metre.

I've just bought 45 metres of assorted diameters/colours for about £12, off an electrical warehouse online.
You can't get carpy olive green but it's good to try other colours apart from black, I think red and yellow will work just fine as a kicker :)

I’m glad it’s not just me that Recycle my end tackle I normally save it up for the winter so I have something to do when I’m not fishing.

Army surplus stores are always the best for clothing mate. Camo or non camo they have a great choice, it’s harder wearing than the tackle company’s clothes and very cheap too. Tight lines 👌🏻

Great video! And the hacks was spot on mate. Syndicate part definitely caught my attention. There are to many day ticket venues these days. I'm on a syndicate and it's just 50 for the year and that gives me night and day fishing! But you was spot on with the cost of the day tickets. And there not always that easy either especially when you walk away from a 48h session where you dont catch ! Atleast with the syndicate you can walk away and come back when ever you want. And even prebait a spot. Thanks simon!

Getting sponsored in America is not working for me. So if any of you are. And have extra. Let me know. I will cover the freight. As always. Great watch!

Great vid. I do most of these as fish quite regularly. I’d say buy the quality of tackle most appropriate for the amount of fishing you do. If you realistically don’t fish much of the year and are more of a casual angler you don’t need top end gear. If you are out two or three times a week all year round in all conditions then you need more robust tackle. If you are the latter and can’t afford the best quality then buy the best you can afford. I researched all my tackle a long time before making purchases and selected good quality secondhand rods and reels. You can put a search on eBay and it notifies you when items are listed. I find buying tackle just before or after Christmas are the best times when there are bargains to be had. If looking at reels and need robust then look at Japanese manufacture. If looking for good quality rods then British manufacture carbon is good. There’s lots of good end tackle companies (e.g. Bank Tackle) that sell quality without the cost and have good after sales support. I buy leads in bulk from (e.g. Mark Payne leads) as it’s much cheaper than branded. I buy pva mesh in bulk bank holiday deals as much cheaper. Also tend to use running inline lead setup as much as possible. It works well for most situations and avoids the need to drop leads. I would just watch the packing nuggets as although some are manufactured from pva some some are corn starch and do melt but have very poor solubility. Only thing I would say is that day ticket lakes often hold a lot of very nice fish and not all invest in a lesser quality of fish. Often they have the revenue to invest in fish vs clubs and you do find some of the best carp in the country live in day tickets where they are well managed. That said I prefer low stock syndicates where there are few anglers and the fish are less pressured.
