Avoid these rig mistakes to catch more consistently.

Over the last 12 years at Beausoleil, I’ve seen some of the same mistakes again and again on anglers’ rigs. Some of these can seem very small details but I believe they can make a difference to your catch rate on tricky venues.

Been 40+ years fishing, one of the best videos I've ever seen for just out and out basic, to the point advise. Awesome!

One lesson I learnt years ago about tying the knotless knot was - when starting the winding around the shank, go in the direction opposite where the eye wire joins the shank again. (difficult to describe it) In other words, go to where the shank starts to bend into the eye. Otherwise, you might be fighting a fish and the line at the eye slips through that tiny gap and will then start to unravel and finally, the whole thing comes undone.
I'm sure you've described it elsewhere, but always worth mentioning.
I like your closing comments about the simplest of rigs. There's a saying, KISS - Keep It Simple & Stupid. Don't overcomplicate things if you don't have to.

Spent 4 weeks trying to hook a carp. I was tying back of the hook. Switched to front and caught three in three hours. Perfect lower lip hook.

Thanks Matt.

📳 I now offer one-on-one tuition by video call. If that’s of interest, contact me directly.

Over the last 10+ years as a fishery owner, I have witnessed, on multiple occasions, everything covered here. I understand this video may create some debate but week in week out, I still see these errors being made. They may not be mistakes on some waters, but at a tricky venue like Beausoleil, they can cause you to lose a fish or miss bites. I hope this video can help out a few more people 😊

Always checking everything, and testing the rigs in the water is the best advice.

Brilliant again Matt, I’ve been tying the knotless knot wrong but didn’t realise. I’ve actually recently hooked two fish in the top lip from the outside, now I know why. Keep up the good work with the easy to follow and understand videos. I’m hoping to pay a visit to Beausoleil soon.

Ive moved onto the nash run clip, ive used tubing for years and and never had the issue with the line not passing through tubbing even when crushing the swivel

But the spinner rig isn't a complicated rig it's one of the most simplest to use and it works, because the stiff boom material allows it to consistently reset and the hook can be changed in a matter of seconds and it's such an effective rig and many styles and patterns of hook can be used. But it's just a very over user rig because of how simple and effective it is

Good advice on the knot testing fella👍🏻I’ve always pulled mine as tight as I can usually to it feels like it’s cutting into me & just feels more confident when I’m baited up & in the water. Tight lines 👍🏻
