This was a great video, to help people get started carp fishing. When I was a kid I'd fish for what ever I could catch and occasionally that would be a carp. As an adult I target fish for specific species and each has its own skill set and practices. As I watch this video I just had a small carp fishing session in a small creek behind my job, this year was the first time I saw carp in the creek and I made it a mission to target fish them. One point this video brings up and most people who only fish fresh water over look often is chumming the water. In the UK they call it spoding and theyve invented several methods and specialized pieces of equipment to basically drop chum into the water. Best advice I can give and it is what landed me two 30+ lbs carp today is, observe the water look for the fish chum and chum again I take hand fulls of corn and toss them into the water until I see the carp move to a area I want them, then I toss more corn to keep them actively eating and in that area this also makes them used to disturbances in the water so when you toss your hook and line in they assume it's just more corn falling into the water and don't spook. After I set my line in the water I continue to throw more corn into the water around my line, and when I'm done I throw any left over bait I don't need into the water.

This practice keeps the fish coming back and used to being feed, it also prevents them from leaving the area after fishing pressure is added.

And the last thing to add is be a good fisherman, take care of your catches ensure you don't cause excess stress or harm to the fish, take a moment to admire your cagtch but then get that fish back into the water and give it a moment to recoup before you release it. Carp are tough fish but they are big and can get hurt during a fight or landing so take care of the cagtch so these fish can continue growing big an beautiful for the next fisherman

Whole corn works like a charm on carp and catfish - my buddies and I used to use this long ago and would catch tons of fish with this technique. Only thing is that your throw a whole can of corn out at near sunset and come back at the next sunrise and start reeling them in using a single piece of corn on the bottom on a number 6 or 8 hook with 12lb test line - I liked the number 8 hook the best - yeah! really does work well

The biggest aspect of carp fishing is swim location . Bait is rather less important to finding fish on the feed. The trick to catching more bigger carp is simply feed them more than you fish for them. Show up the same spot 4 times a week and give them a few cans of corn . They will clear the swim of debri and begin to return here more often. Build your swim first then enjoy trying to keep others away from it .

Caught my first two today. Used homemade boilies per Luke's recipe on a hair rig. Learned a lot from the three that got away. Most exciting fishing of my life.

I use 8 lb test on a medium rod. I lost some that way but it is so much more fun.

Great video! I started fishing for Carp last summer- I haven’t hardly fished for any other species since. I’ve been fortunate enough to catch so many 30 pounders! Amazing!

I agree with you on the net. First time I went carp fishing I had a net in the car and didn't think I'll need it. I tried to drag the fish onto land and it just wasn't happening. It popped off so I went into the car and got a net and I didn't loose any more carp that day

Great video. All the info is good. I would only add to use barbless hooks if releasing. If you are keeping for food then go ahead and use barbed hooks or even treble hooks.
