Deep breathing has helped me at times.

There's other breathing exercises besides the 4-7-8 too, like 4-4-4, 4-5-6 etc there's different ones but I personally prefer not to do the ones where you're holding your breath for more than 4 to 5 seconds, especially if you're having an anxiety or panic attack, breathing in those situations properly aren't easy since you're trying to calm down.

I do breathe my way out of anxiety as well as going for walks and meditation

Maybe some people can. It's never worked for me. When my heart goes up to 150 bpm during panic mode not able to stop shaking much less breathe slowly
