Thank you for your video, I’m a junior civil engineering major with a concentration in environmental engineering! Personally I haven’t seen many black women in environmental engineering so this is very inspiring for me, thank you!!

Hi Imari!

I just found your channel and have been enjoying watching your videos on EE. Thank You for providing perspective on EE and all the potential pathways you can take with such knowledge :). I took a couple years off from school after pursuing my bachelors in Chemistry to work in industry, but now am ready to go back to school in pursuit of developing an expertise and just deepening my knowledge into areas I’m passionate about, such as the environment! I wanted to ask if there are many collaborative labs at Duke that focus on green chemistry projects, such as your project that monitors organic compounds leaching from plastics? Thank You so much!

Thank you so much for this video! It’s great to see representation within the field. I’m currently interested in majoring in environmental engineering but I’m also interested in bioengineering. So I was wondering what do you think about the double major Duke has on biomedical and environmental engineering? Because I was thinking of pursuing that God willing at the school near by me.

Hello madam,

I learn a lot about environ engineering in your channel, you're a real pro! Since I have some eye issues with high degree myopia and presbyopia but would like to work in the US as a environ engineer after earning a graduate program.

I wonder:
Do environ engineers nowadays spend a lot of time in front of a screen(PC/laptop)?
How much time is it based on a 8-hour workday?
What type of environ engineer would typically spend the least amount of time using a computer?

Your response is invaluable to me and I can't thank you enough!

Hey Imari! Are you able to do another Q & A session or maybe 1 on 1 for people who are interested in environmental engineering?

Thank you for the video. I love seeing other black women in STEM. So, I'm a senior in high school and soon I graduate. Since junior year, so just recently, I decided to switch my career path from clinical social work to Env Eng because it suited what I wanted to do more. Being new to this, I have a few questions that I would love for you to answer.

1:I know that all engineering fields require some math, but would you say the math in Env Eng is easier than in other fields?
2: Adding on to the math aspect, if I do struggle with math, should I switch over to Env Sci. instead of Eng.?
3: What would you say is the most important thing you need in this field of study?
4: What are the classes like for Env Eng?

Thank you so much. If you have any other advice please share, I would greatly appreciate it.

Do you recommend studying environmental engineering as a bachelor’s degree or as a master’s degree? I can’t seem to decide whether I should major in aerospace engineering since it was a dream that I’ve always wanted to achieve or choose the environmental engineering path instead cause the past few years I became more aware of what’s happening to the world and sometimes I get eco-anxiety whenever I think about it. I become more anxious when I see how ignorant the people around me about this whole situation and I don’t want to sit and wait till we destroy our only home. I used to think that there’s no way to fix what’s already been destroyed so space exploration is a better option to find a new home but now I know that it’s never too late not yet at least. I’ve always been interested in space so I mostly cared about what’s outside the earth. I’m confused and I don’t know what to do. I thought about getting a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering and pursue a master’s degree in environmental engineering but I don’t think that could be possible since they don’t relate that much. Do you have any advice for me?
