Your college major does not define exactly which way your career will go. However by selecting the right major you can at least optimize your chances of starting in the right field (or related field) that will lead you to your dream career. This video is mainly focused on STEM majors and what to do when there are too many fields that interest you.

I'm pursuing Computer Science, but I recently got into Astronomy which has led to an interest in Physics which led to an interest in Aerospace Engineering, and an increased interest in Computer Engineering.

I'm having trouble deciding whether to be a computer engineer or be Superman. So frustrating to choose from.

This is the most annoying feeling, GOD. One day I feel very passionate about engineering, math and physics and then the other day I'm thinking about history and research, maybe writing books on interesting historic topics. And then a wake up, and my brain goes " why not do political science, hey international relations are cool, you know a foreign language this should be good".

Well, the thing is once we know what learning, studying, understanding and implementing is, we tend to like many subjects. Same thing has happened to me. I have understood and learned high school Maths, physics, computer science, physical chemistry, biology so vividly that I feel like I can get to any subject and not feel disappointed later. But for lazy students like me, biology and chemistry seems a bit daunting as it involves memorization(there are concepts but still not like computer science and physics) than imagination and understanding. So, Physics and computer science appeal to me more. So at last I am majoring in CS and doing minor in physics.
Guys, learn to appreciate the beauty of maths. That's what the most important factor to learn physical sciences.

This is my biggest problem in life... i have avoided college because I love every subject... People always say to ''do what you love'', but I love everything. I study History, Anthropology, Science, Engineering, Sociology, Politics, Economics, Law, I just read about every single subject and I have been building a personal library since I was young, filled with everything from Ancient History to Philosophy to Occult and Theology, all the way to Quantum theory and Finance and technology... I have absolutely no hope of going to college because I know that whatever I study, I will want to study something else within a few months or a year. I wish I could just have every degree. I wish I could just study everything How do people just do one thing, I will never understand that.

I wish I'd seen this 2 years ago. It may have saved me a lot of worrying.

I really want to be everything. I am very interested in politics but also space and physics and medicine. I'd love to be a psychologist or an architect or a writer too. Very difficult to choose but I settled for biomedical engineering because it keeps the most doors open and it's also easy to find a good job

Go to community college. It saves money and 2 years for skills you gained. For example, associate degree in mechanical engineering, then bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering or computer engineering or electrical engineering or automation engineering.

Some people dropped out of their bachelor's degree because of its difficulty or disinterested. Money wasted.

Take your time with your career goals.

I can't say that there is any specific subject that I'm most interested, I love learning new things about everything.
I enjoy almost everything I do. I need to choose which Major is the best for me in a year, and deciding this will be toughest decision I will ever do.

I don't know why YouTube's Algorithm underrates such good content.

My problem is that really nothing “interests” me or stands out against the rest, but I’m definitely a great student. I feel like I’d just be moderately satisfied with half the majors out there 😂 ugh

This is a good process for helping determine your college major. Begin by using the process of elimination. Look at a list of the majors. Mark off the majors you know 100% that you do not want to major in. Afterwards, you will have a much shorter list of options. When I did this, I only had one left and that is what I majored in.

I got a bachelor's degree in fine art and then went back a few years later for a bachelor's in math. I wish it didn't cost me so damn much but I love learning and bridging the two subjects.

Some of these points are obviously very specific to America but it actually was surprisingly helpful for me as a German as well 🙃

I have way to many interests in high-school my dream careers were being a video game environment artist and a cinematographer. After graduating I looked into both industries and saw how horribly people are treated especially in the game industry and now i want nothing to do with either but i still very much enjoy those things. Nowadays im into mechatronics, aerospace engineering, Lidar, web development, cooking, and baking. Its hard to just pick one and stick with it lol.

So I have the same problem. I was very interested in either perusing an engineering, business, or arts degree. Eventually I went for chemical engineering and got accepted. I’m currently in the middle of my second year and I’m realizing that this isn’t the right path for me so I’m trying to switch to finance. Sometimes the best way to learn about where you truly belong is to go through it. Yeah it’s gonna cost more money, time, blood, and sweat but for me it’s the only way I see that would get me somewhere. Wish me luck and I wish you all luck as well. Life is never meant to be easy.
