ROG Ally X Review: The Ultimate Gaming Handheld?

It’s here, the 2024 ROG Ally X. Full review and unboxing of the latest handheld games console from ASUS. It has 120hz, VRR, 1TB SSD (serviceable), a new black design and double the battery size. I cover what FPS games like Cyberpunk 2077 can achieve, as well as a full battery test in Turbo Mode.

You can use this to play Steam games, Xbox, PlayStation and more. And as it’s running Windows 11, you can literally use it for more than just gaming.

It absolutely blows my mind that no one is talking about what performance looks like in things like call of duty, etc. when you manually adjust the VRAM to 8 GB and still have 16 GB of RAM left over. Why is everyone doing performance testing leaving the VRAM to 4 GB? There are so many games that will benefit hugely in performance by having a gigabytes of vram!

How did you get ps remote play to work on it? Mine tells me I need to use a dualsense rather than the gamepad

So for PlayStation remote play there are 3rd party options(Chiaki, PSPlay for windows) which will let you play your PlayStation games with your Ally’s built in controls remotely.
