How badass to be on a team called the “ride out” team. Hope everything goes well for everyone affected by this hurricane.

Ride-out team = electricians, plumbers and carpenters. I was on the covid "ride-out team" at my place of work. We also get to "ride-out" fires and bomb threats!

But, they DID launch it though! Falcon Heavy performed admirably as always, and it was an awesome launch!

Recorded history. Now that we have seen what we have seen, we can be assured we have been living in calm times on this rock.

I was really looking forward to seeing the launch in person

Every Florida hurricane threatens NASA. They've only recieced significant damage once.

I'm in Putnam county Florida writing this at 1:08am on October 10th. It sounds like the March of the Ents is happening in my back yard.

What did they end up doing about the transistor rad rating?

I work on the Cale side, Im always on the rideout team ( fire dept) we stayed in the LCC, it is quite an amazing building and definitely kept us safe, while a few panels were ripped off the VAB and the roofs of many buildings, the overall damage was not that bad. That was during hurricane Mitchell, I believe. It just scraped us. It could have been way worse.

Hurricane Milton was a minimal category 3 by the time it made landfall. When a hurricane gains strength so fast it usually drops in strength before it gets anywhere. The only exception was Hurricane Andrew. This is nothing new.

Yeah, that storm sucked. Have a short on my channel of Milton making landfall, and flooding my neighborhood. I was in the eye wall, the eye was about 40 miles south of me, so we had 100+mph gusts. Lots of wind damage.

EDIT: For reference, I am +16ft above sealevel.

Is the in-space-footage shown in this short actual footage of Milton? 😮

Can you imagine that being the beginning to some sci fi story. Because of this, Cthulu showed up and was like "Im Here"
