This must be the feeling of waiting for a meteor to arrive. Man is still not above nature

I feel bad for people who don’t have the means to evacuate.

I had to hold on to dear life for about 12 hours of Hurricane Maria here in Puerto Rico. My house is made of concrete and all my windows and doors are storm proof. The wind gusted at 210 mph, and I basically prayed and cried all during all the night. It was the equivalent to having the finger of God swiping through my land. I'm still affected by the experience.

This is like taking a left hook from Mike Tyson and knowing that the uppercut is coming.

I am from the Dominican Republic, and I lived through a category 3 hurricane, which was extremely traumatic. I can’t even imagine what a category 5 would be like. I’m praying for all floridian❤🇺🇸

I am a native Floridian who lives in the Midwest now. All my family is back in Saint Pete and I’m just absolutely sick to my stomach watching this. 😭💔

If you are a climate change denier you should stay home, stand in your front lawn when it comes, and just yell at the hurricane saying "you're not real"

I'll be honest. I've stayed away from the news for decades, but with this recent set of hurricanes, I can't stop paying attention. It's just terrifying and I feel so bad for everyone involved. I thought that Texas not having water was a scary situation, but this is a post-apocalyptic level of devastation. What makes it more terrifying is that it's happening more frequently and this reoccurrence may be a new reality that we're facing. PS. I don't care about your political views or differences- as far as I'm concerned, we love you all right now and hope that you get out of there. -from Chicago

Isn't it wonderful people had multiple days warning against something so life threatening? Technology can be a wonderful thing.

Oh dear, I feel the most concerned for the elderly who are sick and alone and don't drive anymore. I hope they are helping them evacuate.

It’s simple science. The more heat in the environment, the more kinetic energy available for storms!

That hospital should’ve never been built on an island. Not when you know the state is prone to hurricanes you put the trauma center away from the water. You don’t put it on the water.

We knew this was going to happen as far back as the 70s, still makes it no better. Hope everyone stays safe.

What makes this even more heartbreaking is that the grounds around there are still saturated from Helene, and then two weeks later you have another monster hurricane coming!😔😔😔

Yes, warmer water equals stronger hurricanes. Basic physics.

There were 13 category 5 hurricanes between 1960-2000 (40 years) and 18 category 5 hurricanes from 2001-present (24 years). These hurricanes are getting worse more often
