Video shows stunning look inside eye of Hurricane Milton

Harrowing footage released by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Aircraft Operations Center shows a research plane violently shaking from heavy turbulence as it flew directly into Hurricane Milton.

The view from the passenger side window of “Miss Piggy,” the Lockheed WP-3D Orion aircraft, shows the plane flying through an impenetrable gray sky as it is pounded by blistering rain.

My grandfather flew into hurricanes in the 80s to gather weather data on them. Crazy job those guys have.

I live in North Brevard(right across the river from the space center for those who don't know where this is) and I'm sitting in my back porch right now listening to the wind howling and hoping that the big pine trees that are behind my house in my neighbors back yard don't say they have had enough and decide to lay down bc they will totally crush my townhouse.
It isn't raining here too much right now but it was pouring like crazy couple hrs ago. The crazy thing is it just made landfall on the west coast not very long ago and that's a couple 100 miles west of me and we're already getting some seriously strong winds gusts and it will only get worse throughout the night. Something I've never understood about these hurricanes (and I've been through countless) is they almost always hit at night which makes it that much more scarier bc you can hear the wind but can't see what's actually going on.
Other than the trees the only other thing I'm worried about is losing power

I've been through the Eye of a hurricane a few times, crazy how before you enter it the wind blows one way, and then after the eye passes the wind changes to the opposite direction. Near the eye is the strongest winds and all of a sudden the wind stops and the sun comes back and you think everything is over but then incomes the strongest winds again making sure to bend and break every tree in the other direction.
