Perfect posture doesn’t exist, only how you can move matters #mobility #posture

My powerlifting coach is anti wrist braces, belts, etc. because if you cant lift the weight without them, you arent ready/capable of lifting that weight. He thinks the braces are just crutches for having certain muscles underdeveloped. For instance, if my hands cant grip that bar and its slipping out of my grip when i should be able to lift it, it means i need to work on my hand and wrist strength, not get wrist braces. Since I was having that issue due to my weak wrists, he gave me special exercises to help with my wrists/hands/forearms and its gotten a lot better. He also watches my form with bicep curls because my wrists tend to get lazy and my elbow locks up. I swear, he has to spot me more during bicep curls than with bench 😂

I realized it's not about which posture you sit in, the problem is that you don't move. the human body was not made to be sitting around infront of a desk motionless for 8h. the trick is pretty simple, actually: shift your position every half hour at least, ideally stand up, walk around regularly

I've been watching your videos for a few weeks now and I think you're great!
You know what you're talking about, you understood human biomechanics and your structuring is efficient, purposeful and everyone who really wants can easily copy the exercises at home.
This makes work fun, I wish you were my colleague. Best wishes from germany 🙏

The life lesson underneath this: Focus on empowerment for a free, autonomous balance and ditch the self-conscious business of fitting in, masking and overcorrection altogether.

😂 That was me at one point. Jack up my whole back trying to have "good posture".

This is some good advice. I been working on my posture but in the wrong ways. I been walking around like he said not to do in the start of this video. In doing so I have began to develop lower back pains

Wow someone who advises against lifting equipment (sleeves, belt) you’ve got yourself a fan mate.

I dont know if i can agree with this... by doing exactly what you described NOT to do, I was able to start correcting my posture and in fact reduce pain & infallation in my upper and lower backs.

When I think of my "perfect posture" I think "the orientation of my musculoskeletal system which is optimal for blood flow, lung expansion, mobility/range of motion, proportional muscle activation, and doesn't put excess pressure on joints/connective tissue." Is that not what proper posture is all about?

I'd really love to hear a response on this, because I'm not kidding when i say adopting/exploring this philosophy has done wonders for my body and my energy levels.

Edit: I do know what you mean by not pulling your shoulders too far back and walking around like you have a stick up your ass. However, I have found that a mild postural exagerration (i.e. only causing the slightest discomfort) when performing typical day-to-day tasks helped me re-establish mind-muscle connection with muscles that were previously atrophied.

But what if you're developing a hunchback?

The fact that you do this all in jeans amazes me lol I wore the wrong cut of jeans for years and they ruined my thigh skin

Perfect posture doesn’t exist but proper alignment does and you’re missing a lot of the bigger picture here just trying to spare feelings?

What gets me is ... "Flong and Sexible" is not a spoonerism. If it was almost but not quite one it could come from "Song and Flexible" or exactly from "Slong and Fexible" but both are weird. It's got me stumped.

Posture doesn't matter... as he proceeds to illustrate a posture and tells you it will wreck your neck

Question: I'm normally pretty active but when i take time to relax or have off days im sedentary and will read or draw for long periods of time. It gives me pain in the back of my neck. Should i try to sit up straight or just try to move around every so often?
