Middle school and high school was really tough for me, I hated being different. It took me a long time to get over it. After being diagnosed 23 years ago, I'm finally being more open about it. Stay strong everyone.

I am from India, pursuing MBBS
Got diabetes when I was 14.
Next 2 year were roller coster ride for me
The phase of depression, sucidal thought, stress, not even able to sleep was all around of me
Then I realised I can't be like this .. I am better than this ..surrounded myself with happy people .. got positivity from everywhere .. now I am 22 ..and I knw it's tough to live with it but also I knw I am unique and I love myself more than I ever could
Going to be doctor soon

“My mom told me everyone has something” My mom told me the same thing after I was diagnosed too. This small realization has helped me throughout my 23 years with the disease.

I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on May 17th 2004 at age 14. I was actually quite relieved that it "only" was type 1 diabetes. I thought I was dying of cancer or something. I almost went into a coma, and eventually spent 10 days in the hospital after being taken there with an ambulance.
Remember to take care of yourself - it's a dangerous illness if you don't! <3

It's so lucky when you have a parent with it too, I was diagnosed when I was 9, and I'm glad my mom was able to coach me and set me up for success. To all the diabetics out there, take care of yourself. It will help you in the long run.

These comments are making me feel more welcomed in the world, I was diagnosed 5 years ago, and it was a very tough time. But now I know I’m not the only person dealing with this problem.

Well said, Sophia.  I'm proud of you.  I am glad to be part of JDRF with you.   From one T1D to another, I get it.  We are in this together and have several others helping as well.  You are inspiring.

My husband was diagnosed at 28 years old one year ago. We have an 8 month old daughter and I pray to God that she never gets it. I also pray he is cured too! I really hope for a cure and a miracle!

I am 11 and have had it since I was born. Earlier I had a blood sugar of 37! That’s in mg/dL. Diabetes is a series of ups and downs but we will get through it.

I was diagnosed at 27 years old, I was living my best life while serving in the Navy. Never thought I would get it, T1 took my career and a big part of my life away from me. Now I'm 30 and my life is going strong. We can make it in this world. 🤘🤘🤘

I remember being diagnosed with T1D 36 years ago, I remember the nervous waiting for test results and the feeling of helplessness. Seeing you talk about it like this is an inspiration I hope lots of young people see this and see that they can do anything they want. Stay strong go far.
