Huh? 3 Years of constant decline in the player base, too many characters for new players to be properly introduced, and unnecessary bugs. A new game is actually a smarter idea than just releasing more skins. The coverage of the game shows this.

Comparing Epic Games's Unreal Engine to unrelated Engines (better at future proofing) is so inaccurate and unrealistic tbh

Overwatch has way less skins and the "update" to 2 barely changed anything graphically, i don't see why are we comparing barely over 500 skins to 1600+ that most change the effects, sounds, voice actors and even skeletons

Completely disagree. The code is so broken and impossible to work with right now. UE5 is SO MUCH more streamlined than UE3 and the devs have already stated how much quicker they can make new content in UE5 also, I don't think you(or anyone complaining about smite 2) realizes how soon smite one was going to die. Pretty much every pro player who talked about this situation said that smite one would be shut down in a few years anyway, and they have way more information than we do.

Okay so a couple points I’d like to throw at you. Not looking for arguments, just my perspective. I’m a long time smite player somewhere around 3k hours. The unreal engine change is much needed from a dev standpoint. UE5 is easier to work on, so less spaghetti code. Also bringing out smite 2 revitalizes the already dying player base. Bringing players back from years ago as well as potentially new players. The skin thing is disappointing, don’t get me wrong, I’ve spent hundreds, have multiple T5’s but I also feel like their response is good. I spent money on a micro transaction for a live service game, I didn’t expect to have those skins forever anyway. As far as the roster goes, it makes sense for them to drop a smaller roster in the beginning because part of the problem of getting and keeping new players is the fact that have to learn 130 gods with a million item combinations. I am very very excited for smite 2. It is a much needed sequel to an 11 year old game.

PS5 version is much needed considering console players have been stuck with 60fps vs 120fps 😴😴😴

Thank you for having a more rational take on skins, all the guys saying "oh im a hardcore player with 10k hours and don't care about skins" are dumb, like ok? Nobody cares that you are a hardcore player, Smite doesn't make its revenue from hardcore players, it makes money from the casual player with a job and some disposable income not from streamers and not from no-lifers in game, many casual players joined because they heard they could play with a skin of their favorite vtuber, cartoon show, etc and the gameplay is fun so they stay and for most having some "disposable income" doesn't mean they are rich just that you can afford a little nice thing from time to time so seeing that evaporate like nothing does hurt people.

Everyone uses the same build anyway. Like you have your bread and butter builds for all the gods outside of certain scenarios. With the new system, literally any god can build anything which is wild. Now, I don't think they explained how that works, but I welcome the change. Building is smite has been very boring, and my build doesn't change unless a new item gets added just to try it out. The possibilities with this new system are way better imo.

Some of y’all never had to deal with baron snake no regs and it shows. Unreal 5 is definitely needed.

IMO Eventhough us Smite gamers think Smite1 is thriving, their gamerbase is dying and the game its self would eventually die possibly. Their last hope and the hope for HiRez is to bring better graphics and better "action". I really hated that all my probably over 4k $ eazy i put into smite 1 would go out the window. I hated that It might not play on some of my friends pc or consoles if they arent the higher consoles or pcs. I was fuming at all the changes. I am happy they are keeping smite1 servers open as long as gamers will play it. I am hoping they dont close smite 1 doors ever tbh. I am kinda scared about all the changes but kinda excited. I believe HiRez could be more giving as far as the god pack and a few things that I feel is a money pit they just want more. But we can see if it'll all be worth when it comes out and all that.. Like I said its HiRez's Way of Lifting the player base and not to decline. The changes might be good, I will be playing both smite 1 and smite 2 for various reasons. Keep gaming Gamers!

Smite 2 is needed for Hi-Rez obviously since Smite 1 doesn't grow. UE3 is outdated and it's harder to attract new players to the game. With better looks and smoother gameplay on UE5 it will be easier to do so and they will also have the ability to create new effects and animations with the tools on UE5 which isn't possible on UE3.

This is actually a huge step forward for Smite. It's like going from stone age to modern time.

Smite 2 doesn’t make sense. People say don’t port skins over because smite has a small player base yet they’re going to keep smite 1 and 2 running separately and encourage the playerbase to be divided which is a small playerbase

Also they’re over promising way too much for the launch month of smite. The item balancing alone is going to be crazy let alone the skins and gods they’re adding every week or two.

Nothing about smite 2 makes sense. The devs said smite 2 play test was made in 4 weeks and smite 2 has been in development for 3 months. So them saying porting skins over is hard is total bullshit.

Also I don’t like how smites culture and identity is about cosmetics. Just like CS:GO yet won’t transfer shit over and want everything to be purchased all over again.

Smite 2 for a month at the very least should focus on gameplay and gameplay only. Enough with the fucking cosmetics. At least for a month or so because if smite 2 is worse than smite 1 then it’s dead on arrival.

Trust the process... Smite is not the same as Overwatch, OW didnt really improve. SMite 2 is an all around improvement and they can lure new player or even returning players.

overwatch 2 was able to port over all of the skins because overwatch 2 is not a new game. and you wouldve lose your skins anyway when smite 1 shut down in a couple years.

Hirez can’t put all the time to port skins over because they are a small company You can’t compare hirez studios to billion dollar companies like blizzard lmao it’s your opinion yes but a wrong one unfortunately overwatch 2 is basically the same game with no difference from 1 to the second game as well. Only thing I agree with you with is that physical and magical doesn’t need to be changed plus items etc but it’ll be a more creative style like league is so I’ll save that judgment until release

you must not have watched them cover why smite 2 is going to be a good idea. i can think of 10 different reasons on why and write 100 pages but ill keep it simple for you. Engine... an artist can only be as good as his canvas, the same is true for a developer. have a good day.
