In this video I describe the basic differences between a single plane and dual plane manifold.
The intake manifolds demonstrated are a Pontiac 389 and a 400 small block Chevrolet.

I personally like tunnel rams on the street. If you know how to turn them, which is really a lost art, they run GREAT. Great videos BTW.

Nice explanation of the dual plan and single plain manifolds

Edelbrock airgap is the best intake for a street car period, power range from 1, 500-6, 500 rpm AG.

What about MPFI manifolds. I've been told single plane is better and will not affect low end. What are your thoughts?

I like the work they did in the plenum, its worth some debate??

Dual Planes have 180 degree separation to smooth low speed running, first employed by Henry Ford in 1934 because the 1932 motor ran too rough.

What have you found to be the upper limit with a dual plane intake? Generally speaking, or at least as far as the RPM Air Gap is concerned, 6500 looks to be about it. Beyond that, for a given CID, the single plane takes over. Is that your finding as well? While we're on the subject, are there any tests in your video library that combines a dual plane intake with an open spacer? That's one of my experiments come this seasons track testing.

Hello AJ what do you think about the Edelbrock cams that are dyno matched to the intake are they any good

I was thinking about switching to a single plane on the engine I'm building for a fairly light s10. It will be mostly street driven with occasional track time. I've got a mild 350 now and have a hard time with blowing the tires off in the first 60ft. My new engine will be somewhere around 475 hp and 450 torque. I will be installing cal tracks as well. Any thoughts.

Hello Allen of Gold's garage, I would like to discuss with you about your spreadsheet documents. You obviously have dedicated many hours of documenting outcomes and values for engine building management and I would be interested in buying your intellectual property. I myself am a hobbyist and see the value in your writing down and tracking these values if you can leave your email address that would be great. Thank you good sir.

Please dyno the original intake on the Pontiac versus the eldebrock dual plane, I advised my friend the stock intake is better .Prove me wrong! Like 👍 and watch your information on engine builds!

Edelbrock not Eldebrock..it’s like when people say Gartlits instead of Garlits. Sorry to be so picky but it erks me when I hear names mispronounced !

The picture of the dual plane manifold didn't help to visualize what is really going on. For those like me, we want to see where those underneath runners get their air-fuel mixture from. How is it tied into the top of the manifold? I just figured it out, I think. Another picture from the opposite angle would help, or one at 90 degrees of the first one would really be even better and would show both hi and low runners.
