720p compared to 1080p side by side test

I filmed this clip in 1080p than exported one into 720p so I could do a side by side comparison. Filmed on a sony alpha slt-a57 in 1080p60p with a 50mm f1.7 and reduced to %40 speed. Must watch in 1080p for true results.

then that means i can record game footage at 720p60fps instead of 1080p30fps

For me 720p is my bare minimum before you get to super blurry. I choose because of file size and quality. Good balance. It streams easily on most mobile phones. Most phones can handle 720p smoothly than 1080p as stated its easy on hardware.

Yes, difference is pretty big you can see that the coin on the left is much more crisp and sharp thanks to that 1080p resolution.

I think the difference between 720p and 1080p feels somehow bigger than 1080p to 4K. 1080p is still acceptable (maybe not for TVs anymore).

something about this seems off... viewing this from a 1080p monitor, I do not see 2x2 boxes of the same pixels on the left even when looking very closely. it looks like there has been some scaling other than integer scaling used here. It basically makes them look way more similar than they should. I notice the resolution difference in real world monitors and I did not notice a difference between these two halves when viewed on a 1080p screen. You should see four identically colored pixels forming a 2x2 box for the 720p side when watching on a 1080p monitor. the 1080p side should have individually colored pixels when viewed on a 1080p monitor.
