Today, we take a look at if there is a noticeable (or any difference at all) between 720p and 1080p footage on an online platform such as YouTube. While watching the video, write down which shots between A&B are 720p and 1080p, and then watch the results and leave your results in the comments! I will use these in part 2 of this video

Hey Avery,
I'm no expert, but I think this video might get more views if you renamed it, "720p vs. 1080p on YouTube". I enjoy your videos. Keep it up man!

You can certainly see the difference if you watch the video file in bigger monitor regardless whether it is in youtube or not. Also you would appreciate the difference if you crop clips in editing.

I tried to focus on this video but the music was so loud and distracting I couldn’t

To be honest the only time I saw a major difference was in the close-up, and 720p actually looked better

The bitrate and compression on Youtube probably makes it slightly harder to tell.

Here's what I recommend. If you have a 720p camera keep it and use it! And if your buying a camera if it's possible don't go 720p!

You will only notice a difference if you go from 720 to 4k

I came across this video by a google search. I sometimes have trouble exporting videos from inshot and always wondered if 720P is easier to export than 1080P. Thanks my man

wow, tough comment section... thanks for the vid man, just what I was looking for. 720p looks adequate, not enough between the two to justify more memory cards, for me anyway

They literally look the same there’s
only a super duper tiny difference

This is why on your phone just use 720p instead of 4k

720p is good for general cases like recording video of your cats, graduations etc and you save space on your phone

Only use 4k for special purposes like a music video or a professional video on the beach

Don’t waste your space

Congrats for the video, pretty cool, except for the use of unfocused images, as they literally blur the line betweens 720 and 1080

That was very helpful. Thanks for taking the time to produce this video.

Keep in mind if your watching this using mobile it might cap your streaming videos at 480p or 720p and thus you won't notice any difference. MAKE SURE your viewing this video in 1080p or download it at that resolution.

Even clearly can tell yhe difference but amusingly thr 720 footage looked more pleasing to the eye. Not sure if anyone else felt it thst way too?

In the footage either the camera or the subject moves around such that the distance from the subject to the camera is changing, resulting in the camera hunting for focus. For all tests the camera position should be fixed (on a tripod) and the focus should also be fixed (not auto), and it should be made clear what object is the subject (where the focus is). Any object movement should be minor and should not change the distance from the subject to the camera. I didn't find this useful the way it was conducted.

Wow this is so helpful! I was worried my exported 720p vid from my free editor wouldn’t look nice but I can see now there’s not much difference if my viewers will just be watching my vlogs in a phone or tablet. Thanks so much for this 😊

First off, I still believe that story/content is king and wins over resolution in most cases. Secondly, if you have to watch the videos side-by-side or back-to-back in the exact same shooting scenario to tell the difference, then it’s not a big enough difference to matter to the viewer. Watching this on an iPad at 1080p, I couldn’t tell the difference. Good video and thanks for posting 🤙🏼
